  We booked this hotel the night before we arrived, and the hotel staff were very accomodating. Our room was wonderful--we had a nice bed with good linens, cable television (HBO), etc..., but the best part was the location. Our room overlooked both the pool and, more importantly, the ocean. Every morning we watched from our balcony as the local Hindu would come worship at the beach. The complimentary breakfast has something for everyone and can be eaten overlooking the beach. Varkala is the perfect little beach town. Nice soft sand, warm water, and enough tourists to make wearing a bikini commonplace, unlike in many parts of India. The beach is encircled by cliffs, atop which dozens of shops and restaurants sit. Great atmosphere--we wish we could have stayed much longer than we did!
