My husband and I stayed there for a week 11/11/09-11/16/09 during my son's graduation from boot camp at Lackland Airforce base. Women this is not somewhere you stay if you like to relax in a hot bath after a long day of site seeing or visiting. The rooms are way out dated and smell very musty, my husband and I went to the Riteaid located a few blocks from the hotel and bought some candles and lysol spray, I know that sounds extreme but its true. The beds are not comfortable, the carpet was filthy overall things just seemed dirty! There are other hotels located close to the base that you might want to consider and if you are going to see someone graduate from Lackland I would encourage you to find a place close to the base because your time with your loved one is very limited.There is a La quinta real close to the base that looked very nice from the outside and although we didn't go inside I would probably stay there before Howard Johnson again. Hope this helps

Though the hotel room fixtures were a little outdated, the staff was excellent. The front desk was truly friendly. The room was cleaned well daily. The bed was extremely comfortable. We have a waterbed at home and usually don't sleep well in hotels, but their mattress was excellent. The microwave and fridge in the room was nice amenities. The continental breakfast was sufficient and saved us a meal out daily.

We went here after a day at Sea World. It was pretty easy to find, and close to alot of fast food places. The lady at the front desk checked us in quickly, and we got to our room. The room was medium sized, not spacious or too small. The bathroom was a bit small for changing, though. The room was clean, but the beds were way too soft and had that "old" feel to them. The pillows were super thin, too. The breakfast bar was pretty good. Theyhad eggo-type wafles, various breads, and cereal. There was plenty of seating, so it worked for us. Check out was quick and painless. Overall, I probably wouldn't stay here again because of the beds, but other than that, it was ok.

Upon entering the room, I realized there was a mistake. This was not what we reserved at all and would not do for our family. They did not have any rooms available fitting our reservation. So I asked for a refund and told them we were leaving, to which she said there was a family that had not checked in yet and we could have their room (which is what we reserved) and the hotel would just give that family the wrong room. I quickly realized this is how this hotel does business. Offering us someone else's room which is what they probably did with our room!? So I went to check the second room before agreeing. . . It STUNK! It smelled of very strong chemicals and I would not sleep in or have my children exposed to such fumes. So I went back to the first room to try to get something figured out. The hotel had told me they could not give me a refund because I had paid online, but once the online rep called them directly they quickly offered to refund my money but it took them another hour to get the entire process done. Less than a minute after they sent the form for the refund, someone knocked on the room door because they had been given the room for the night and we had to leave it! Are you kidding!!? They obviously do not honor reservations and switch things around hoping people don't notice and if people do complain they change other things inconveniencing someone else who may not complain. No one should stay here!

No pay per view. We were told that our room didn't have good reception and that maintence was gone and wouldn't be back till after the weekend. The internet didn't work the whole time we were there. The first night we were told it was being worked on, and the next night we were told it wouldn't be repaired for the weekend either. Our maid turned OFF the AC while we were gone (it was 110 outside) and it took our room more than 2 hours to cool off! Never again!
