My family has now stayed at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort 3x, and this was the least pleasant experience we have had. Sadly, the resort was not 100% at its best, but we would gladly return. This is a very pleasant family resort that we all enjoy. We simply had a couple of issues that I believe could be quickly remedied.

We stayed at the Hyatt HIll Country over the July 4th weekend, and it was awful. I even spoke to housekeeping directly to ensure that we'd have a crib. They assured me it was taken care of. Got there after all day at Sea World;with exhausted kids; - room was not ready- had to wait in the lobby for 30 minutes. Got to the room - no crib. Waited another 20 minutes for crib, they bring a playpen. The bellman was very nice and went and found a crib for me but that took another 30 minutes. The food at the restaurant was overpriced and disgusting. I ordered nachos, my husband ordered chicken cobb salad, kids ate the children's buffet b/c it was immed avail. Buffet was $13/kid and the hot dog buns were moldy. Nachos and salad took 45 min and nachos were a pile of chips with baseball park cheese poured on top and rubber chicken; ditto for the chicken in the salad. Tried to call valet for our car, but one of the {circa 1988} phones in room didn't work - for 3 hun a night, can they get a working phone? Spa erroneously charged $180 spa treatment. When I told them I never visited the spa. After much protest, they finally reversed the charge. Believe it or not, these are just the highlights - I understand that it was a busy time for them (hotel was sold out) but there is simply no excuse for bad food/cust svc when you're paying these prices!

First time at this resort - went for 4th of July week-end. The staff was wonderful - if there was a problem, it was taken care of through out the stay. The pools were good. The lazy river will keep a 3 year busy for 5 hours. Once we realized that the only way to secure a lounge chair was to get towels the night before, wake up at dawn, and RUN to the pool area to ""save"" your area we were fine. I over heard another guest complaining about this and the staff essentially said they could not do anything about it. Yes they could, a couple signs would disuade most, and they could even have area attendants like at many other resorts who are responsible for allocating lounge chairs. $5.50 for a 12 oz can of beer - I know resorts charge a premium, but wow! If they cut all their drink prices in half, most people would not bring their own beer in coolers and the resort would probably end up making more money. The Food: pool side - decent, breakfast buffet - decent - diiner buffet - inedible - get in your car and make the drive to one of SA's great restaurants, you will save a little money and eat food made by people who take pride in what they do. In summary - we will go back again and again, ready to do the lounge chair game with our cooler in tow, reservations at off property restaurants, and incredibly happy kids who did not want to leave.

Our family loves this place. Great rooms, really comfy beds, great service, events going on for the kids all weekend long, Hyatt Camp for when the parents need some alone time. It gets crowded over the July 4 holiday weekend, so stake out your spot at the pool/beach early. Great fireworks show, and really nice to just walk back to your room afterward and not fight the traffic.
