This is indeed a beautiful hotel with a comfortable room and great location. However for the prices they charge they should offer a few more FREE amenities. If you rent a car, be prepared to pay $*. per day for parking (more like $40 after tips). You can park next door for $* but you can't come and go for that price - if you leave, you pay again to park. They have coffee in the room but no tea. When I asked if I could get tea, they said no, I would have to call room service. That was the most expensive tea I've ever had - $* incl. tip. And they charge for internet access. We had a beautiful balcony view of an office building though. Oh yes, and the slip-proof strips in the tub were old and dirty. I'd rather stay at the Comfort Suites Hotel - they have free HIGH SPEED internet, free breakfast (includes waffles, fruit, yogurt, cereals, eggs, juice, coffee, tea, bagels, muffins, danish............). They have a small fridge and even a microwave in some of the rooms. And I sleep just as well in a Comfort Suites bed!! It may be a "A FOUR-DIAMOND TREASURE IN THE CENTRE OF TOWN" but that doesn't mean the Intercontintal should hose you for incidentals. I have to agree with one of the other reviews - the valet were very pleasant. P.S. I just looked at the photos online of the guest rooms and realized we didn't even have a bedspread! I thought it was supposed to be like that - with the big white fluffy comforter only - oh well.

This was my first time staying at any Intercontinental. I am a big fan of Marriot but I decided to try Intercontinental since they did receive a handful of positive reviews as I've heard positive feedbacks from fellow friends and family as well. On the first night, the bathroom tub leaked after every shower. The technician said that the leakage was due to the water splashing against the wall, not the tub itself. But even if that was true, they need to re-evaluate the design of the shower because no matter how many times I adjusted the angle of the shower head, there was still water leaking to the door. The next morning we had the Intercontinental buffet not impressive; and there was a quite rather large insect on the berries; there were also large roaches in the middle of the lobby which I have pictures of! Then, later in the late afternoon, the housekeeper went inside the room with the DO NOT DISTURB sign outside the door. She stated that her manager instructed her to go ahead inside EVEN with the sign on the doorknob. Is that not a serious violation? The managers were notified but never came with a conclusion as to why it even happended. The same evening I had called room service for some forks and knives, after three phone calls to remind them that I still have yet received any of the utensils, they finally brought it up after 45 minutes. It could've been just my luck to receive such services but I am apparently upset. Although one of the managers discounted the room $, I just wish the experience was different. The best service I received at the hotel was from the valet guys!

This hotel is one of the best I've ever stayed in. The employee's are very kind (especially the valet's) and the room was immaculate. Once I hit the bed, I was OUT! The most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The room I was in was completely soundproof, or atleast I rarely heard any noise. The lounge had awesome food on Friday nite at no charge and the bartenders were real fun. (They could be open more hours, though :-) ) It's COMPLETELY within walking distance to the French Quarter and Bourbon Street, as well as the French Market and Jackson Square, which is a ""must see"". This was one of the funnest vacations I've ever taken, and in large part, because of the Intercontintal Hotel, New Orleans. I went through Travelocity and got a steal of a deal coming from the West (round trip flight) and staying for 3 days in a 4-5 star hotel for $550.00!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
