We expected a great view from the hotel that has a balcony for every room but what we ended up with was a lot of noise and a view of the convention center roof. Any room ending in the number 05 thru around 15 will get a view of the roof and the tranquil mountain sounds of the centers exhaust fans. If you are on the upper floors it may not be as bad as what we had on the 4th floor. Also, if you sit in the front of the hotel watch for kids because we were spit on from the upper floors waiting for the tram. Upon alerting the hotel management they scolded the "adult" in the room over the phone and we were promptly told that it was "taken care of". After we returned to the front the kids had already returned to the balcony with laughter, but I felt safe at this point because management had "taken care of the situation". We will not suggest the hotel or even think of staying here again.

The hotel itself was gorgeous--the lobby and restaurants and lounge and glass elevators were just beautiful. Our room was on the tenth floor so it had a great view of the mountains--the room was worth every penny just for the view. HOWEVER--we stayed in June--it was over 90 degrees both days and the air conditioning didn't work--we realized on the second part of the last day that the air conditioning only partially cooled the room when it was all way up on heat. Also, the lounge chair in our room was ripped up on the arms. The bathroom wasn't very clean; just overall kinda grungy;. The pool was skanky--the water smelled and not like chlorine--we didn't even go under water. Wouldn't take any big vehicles up the road either--narrow, very slick in am and pm, and you cannot see anything--Garmin couldn't even find it. Parking was a nightmare too--huge lot and we were there the same weekend as a bible camp so every night when we came back, we'd have to park in the boonies. Ending on a high note--it is away from all the people-traffic from the downtown and is still really close to downtown ;but unless you are extremely athletic--it is like a 10% grade--so you can't walk it; and to the park entrance. In any event, either from the Tram or from the downtown--you are kinda proud that your hotel is the high-rise in the middle of the mountains.

Wife and I 6/7/09-7/11/09 at the Park Vista last week. The booking through a online travel website was a pleasure. Carried the print out of reservations and checked in in less than 2 minutes. Met X at the front desk and she immediatly took care of all our needs. The room does offer a fantastic view of the mountains. The hotel is old but very clean . Service was good and very friendly each time we returned from an adventure. Cleaning staff is all male and they hustle around to make sure every thing is clean and in place. We read too many review from different sites on the poor standard of the hotel. After years of visits to the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area, The Park Vista isin the top 3% of accomodations. Bennets BBQ is the best bang for the buck. Followed by the Alamo steak house of Gatlinburg. Flapjacks N. has a great pancake for the price and topped IHOP. Looking forward to another Smoky Mt. adventure using Travelocity and the Park Vista.
