This was a beautiful hotel, staffed by warm, friendly people willing to go that extra mile for their customers. The view was outstanding, OC the way you see it in the travel books! There were a group of younger people in the room next to me, and may knocks to their door as well as the door banging shut as they came and went, but by 10pm, they were quiet, which I greatly appreciated. Beds and linens were scrumptious!!! (Take them up on their offer to buy them online!) Dinner in the Paradise Eats Lounge was so very tasty! Try the Lemon Drop Martini, fresh swordfish with a mango chipotle glaze, grilled fresh vegetables and curry rice! Top that off with a slice of carrot cake, and yes........I was in heaven!!! I can't wait to return to this hotel next time I am in OC!!!

I booked this hotel because of the good reviews. However, I was very disappointed with my three-night stay. 1. The hotel charges its registered guests US$12 for daily parking. This is bad compared with other similar hotels in the same area (Holiday Inn in Costa Mesa offers free parking). What is outrageous is that neither the valet attendant nor the front desk ever told me that there will be a parking charge when I checked in. When I talked to the front desk about it, the reply was that the parking prices are posted in a sign at the gate. Shouldn't it be the hotel's responsibility to notify their guests of possible charges? After a long day of travel/work, who would want to read the signs at a hotel parking lot when there are attendants handing over you parking permit?! 2. The room was very dated. Old furniture, old decor, and old bathroom. 3. There is no fridge in the room. I ordered one at the front desk and had to pay a one-time charge of us$10. It was delivered to my room, but very old, rusty, and smelly. I had to open the door for hours before plugging it in. 4. Access to the hotel is awkward. Even though it sits right on I405, there is no freeway exit or entrance on Van Karman.

I had extremely bad experiences with the hotel manager. You will never trust the hotel reservation and manager. I had booked the hotel for 2 nights for my family friends using my name and credit card. To make sure it was ok. I called the hotel, they said there was no problem for me to do that, in order to get my business. But when I took my friends to the hotel, they insisted that the room had to be booked under my friend names even I pay for it. So based on their instruction, I canceled my reservation and put my friends name. However, when I receive the bill, they charged my credit card for three nights! Never trust the hotel!

We stayed here for 2 nights during a recent conference at the hotel. The hotel is lovely; rooms are excellent - LOVE the Good Night's Sleep Amenities - but there are some things to know before you go. First, there is valet parking (DON'T - no need!) or Self Parking, but even the Self Parking costs quite a bit per night. We parked our car when we arrived and didn't move it until we checked out. They billed us $25 per day for valet parking PLUS $15 per day for Self Parking. They did correct the bill when we brought it to their attention, but it was still an unpleasant and unjustified expense. Also, the first morning we went through the breakfast buffet line rather than looking at the menu, only to discover later that we could have ordered the same items from the menu for less - hmm. If you are a big eater, do the buffet - otherwise, stick to the menu! All in all, though, it was a very positive experience, especially for a convention-type hotel. Oh - there was a problem with a/c consistency in the meeting room - folks in the back were cold & folks in the front of the room were burning up.
