Walking Distance to the pier and marina but not an attractive location. It is across the street from the city pool, there is no view. You can catch the shuttle to various Santa Barbara locations from the pier, but they stop running at 6:00PM. It is approximately 1 mile to walk to State Street. The hotel is not a bargain, rooms are small and dingy, they are dirty with dirt and mold in the bathroom (around the windows and floor) that has been there a long time. You have to open the windows in the room including the bathroom to get any ventilation (even with the sickly ceiling fan) and the noise from the streets and the pool area is really loud. The hotel front desk and housekeeping staff are indifferent to rude. The breakfast is served down the street at the depressing Emelio's Restaurant and is bare minimum, poor quality, no waffles. This is a really old hotel and is only worse when you realize that there are other very nice hotels nearby for about the same rate but with so much more to offer. Best Western should use this hotel as an example of what not to do. I wish I had listened to the other guests who wrote similar reviews. Nothing has changed it has just gotten older and worse.

There was no A/C and was the hottest days on record. The room was close to the ice machine which was extremely noisy and could close any windows because of the heat to cut down on the noise. The ice machine ran out of ice and we were told we could go 3 blks to the 7-11 to get ice. I would never recommend this hotel. Too expensive for what we got.

"Hotel" is a refurbished "roach" motel which isn't worth the money they are charging. Has an excellent location accross the street from the beach but staff is indifferent and untrained. Room had dirty windows and no air conditioning with a lot of street noise which wasn't acceptable during hotter spring weather. TV didn't work well. While cheaper than most lodgings at that location, it wasn't worth the money and I will not stay there again.

We wanted a one-night getaway in Santa Barbara and from the description and price, this hotel sounded okay. Unfortunately the hotel we would have liked to stay at just across the street on Mason wouldn't accept one-night reservations. The room had no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that did nothing but blow hot air around the room and on the first really hot weekend of the year, this was unbearable and made for a really unpleasant night. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything going on in the next room and outside. The train was so loud in the middle of the night it would have awaken the dead. A previous guest had kindly set the alarm clock to go off before 6am which rounded our night off perfectly! The following morning I turned on the shower and waited and waited for the water to get hot. I finally realized that the taps were mislabeled and I was in fact running the cold water! Santa Barbara is wonderful and a great place for a weekend visit, this is just not the hotel to make it so. The one redeeming factor is that Emilio's restaurant is practically next door and is fantastic and we would highly recommend it.

Stayed here twice in the last two months. Booked both w AARP at 89 a night. Lower floor I had ants, small nitty bitty burgers. Didn't bother me, since I was alone and I love company. Second time they lost my reservation, so upgrade me to top floor over looking the harbor. More luxury and VERY NICE ROOM. I will give it a third try. With rates between 89 to 109, just take chance, NOT worth any price for these rates.
