Recently renovated. Outside patio has flat screens, two firepits and sofas for relaxing. Very friendly and helpful staff. Typical of most Embassy's we stayed in, the frontrooms overlook an interior courtyard, so they are dark. However the bedroom had window with a view. Nice restaurants nearby and a shopping mall is directly across the street. Close to most S.D. activities and UCSD. Kid friendly.

Full breakfast was great. Good location, though other hotels in La Jolla are better situated, including Hilton Torrey Pines, Hyatt and La Jolla Hotel. OK sized suite. Would have preferred larger living room area. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Fridge, sink and microwave were convenient. Loved the decor and the large flat screen TV's in both rooms. Negatives: staff/customer service were not that helpful; the lobby could have been cleaned on a more regular enough basis; narrow driveway made for inconvenient loading and unloading of the car; absolutely no views from any of the rooms; and the parking situation was a mess (small lot, expensive * fee, narrow lanes). Would stay again, though I prefer the Hilton Torrey Pines.

The renovations have made this into a nice hotel, with exception that the restaurant was still being worked on while we were there, limiting usage. It's location in La Jolla made for easy access to everywhere we wanted to visit-Torrey Pines, the beach, San Diego, Shadow Mt Community Church . Very clean, and front desk staff/concierge very congenial and respectful. It is disappointing, though, to have to pay $17/day to park. We paid more for parking per day than our daily rental car cost us!

Not all Embassy Suites hotels are created equal. But my husband & I were very happy with this one. Nice spacious, clean suites with all the conveniences you expect from Embassy Suites (mini-fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, etc.). Customer service was great - we arrived in La Jolla early and called them to get directions and ask if we could check in early - they said yes. The walls were not too thin - as they are in many hotels. Fun that they offer a happy hour with free drinks. We didn't try the free breakfast. A hop skip & jump away from the mall and PF Chang's. The only down side was the garage - expensive and narrow. On the ramp from the 1st level to the 2nd level, two cars cannot get by each other. What a dumb design! During our stay, the garage was not crowded, so we were always able to find a space. Overall, excellent hotel for the price ( the price we got thru Travelocity).

We had a couple of great nights. The bed was VERY comfortable, it was quiet, my kids loved the coy fish in the ponds- it was great. I would have given the staff an excellent while I was there- but my husband left a shirt behind and we called housekeeping and left messages and no one got back to us, so I had to lower the score. The only other negative is the parking- it's $17 a night and the garage is narrow and over crowded. The breakfast was awesome, though. The site said "lite dinner" at happy hour- the drinks are free but it's just chips and pretzels, so don't count on it for dinner. Staff was helpful- even helped me call poison control for an emergency with my son. Overall great- I'd go again.
