  • Pet Friendly - I Don't Think So!!!

One of the reasons that we selected this hotel is because it advertises that they are "pet friendly" and that "pets are allowed". What they don't tell you is that, (1) after you valet your car - with your pet in tow, (2) after your check in - with your pet sitting beside you, and (3) after the bell hop brings your luggage to your room - along side of your pet, that the next time that your at the customer service counter, that they have a "pet contract" that they want you to sign and that they've already charged your credit card $* for a "pet fee" that they didn't disclose at check-in. They never tell you this through the original check-in, valet, and luggage transfer - only after the fact! The lady at the counter was very rude and disrespectful and in need of some serious "customer service training". She has clearly lost sight of "who the customer" is and what her "duties and responsibilities" towards the customer are. This was a very challenging experience for me, my family and our dog - is most certainly a part of our family. If you have a pet - DON'T STAY HERE!

This location is very central to the Time Warner Arena, and a nice place. I am a Hilton Honors Sivler guest, so we got free use of the gym, in the same complex but not owned by Hilton. There was no bellhop to help us with our bags, I did not need it, but the little old lady ahead of me sure could have. Also I was really surprised to pay for internet, even though I was on the Hilton Honors floor. Our first room had a broken toilet, and our new room had stains all over the carpet. But other then that the place is OK. I may try somewhere different next time in Charlotte.

We went for a weekend and had a terrific time. We arrived a little early but the Front Desk staff was very accomodating and got us a room right away. The hotel says they have recently renovated and it shows. The room was bold, it had a great shower and the bed was just so comfortable. We caught the light rail at the hotel and ran down to SouthEnd for some great dining. The next day we checked out Uptown but it was a bit quiet. The bellman suggested we give the EpiCentre a try, and what a great idea! The place rocks! But then there is so much going on at night and the hotel is right in the middle of it all. We ordered Room Service next morning while we recovered which was a fantastic service to have. We even got a late check out to take our time. The trip and the hotel were great!

This is an attractive hotel, for the most part, though some of the decor is very '70s looking and needs updating. Also, the bar and restaurant on the premises is HIDEOUS and the bartender who worked there the night I went there was rude and aggressively sold us "top shelf" tequila, resulting in $13-dollar margaritas. Which were also in tiny glasses. The room itself was on a high floor, which was nice, and it was clean. However, one of the curtain panels was falling down because a rod was broken and the handle on the toilet literally fell off when flushed. Also, someone had stolen the hairdryer, and it hadn't been replaced. Finally, this hotel charges for EVERYTHING. I don't travel a lot these days, so perhaps this is a common trend with the upper class hotels, but they charged $9.95 per every 24 hours for internet access. They charged way too much for local phone calls (can't remember the price), and they didn't supply any complimentary things, such as toothbrushes. The "fitness center" is not part of the hotel. It's attached to the hotel, but it's a YMCA which charges $10 each time you use it. Also, this isn't the hotel's fault, but during this economic crisis in the country, I found Charlotte was hit really badly. Many, many stores and restaurants are closing their doors because of lack of business. Furthermore, this is a business district, not a fun area.
