The hotel was lovely and clean. We have a child with We traveled with our two kids (age 6 and 8) one of which has special needs and is in a wheelchair, and the hotel grounds were very handicap friendly. Our kids enjoyed the pool area, but it was very crowded. A little challenging to maneuver with a wheelchair. Our SN child enjoyed kiddie wave pool and I felt she was very safe. We had a deluxe view room in the tower, and a refridgerator to keep food for our SN kid. Excellent view of the fireworks at Sea World. We traveled to Belmont Boardwalk but didn't stay as the evening crowd was a little scary. Ended up having dinner in downtown. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a wonderful getaway.

We had a 4 night stay at the Hyatt. The suites are wonderful and the view is beautiful. The pool area is well suited for all ages. The children had a wonderful time in the pools during the day and at night we're able to roast marshmallows in the same area. The beds were very comfortable and I found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. We wouild definitly return to the Mission Bay site.

We stayed here for the 4th of July weekend and it was a great choice. Just walking into the lobby my stressed were melted away. It was open, airy and very welcoming. They had cabanas with a fire pit to make smores with the kids! We stayed in the tower and had a great room, good size for 2 adults and 3 kids. Flat screen TV was great and the bathroom was nice. We had a view of the entire Mission Bay and it was beautiful. We also were able to watch the 4th fireworks right from our balcony! It was amazing! The pool was a big hit with the kids, they have 3 waterslides, 2 for the older kids and a smaller one for younger kids. You have to get there early if you want a chair/lounger, it does get crowded. The Blue Marlin Restaurant was disappointing. If we didn't have 2 Free Breakfast coupons per day included in our stay we wouldn't have eaten here. The buffet is overpriced at $19.95 and the service was horrible! We ordered off the menu the 2nd day and the food was good, the kids pancakes are delicious with fresh strawberries and powdered sugar. Yum! My omelette was good too. If you get their early enough you won't have to wait for a table, but we went about 9:00 and it was packed! Very close to Sea World and we went there 2 days. Overall would stay here again.

We spent 3 nights here for spring break, mid week. It was perfect for us--one parent, one grandparent, and one 7 year old boy. We had an ocean view room in the tower with 2 queen beds. The beds were very good--I have a bad back, yet didn't wake up stiff. The easy chair in the room was so comfortable I wanted to take it home with me, and my son fell asleep in it every night. Over all, the room was a little cramped, and I missed having a table and chairs instead of a desk. Very clean, great water pressure and loads of hot water in the shower. The pool slide was a hit with the kid--from the reviews I didn't realize it was such a long twisty slide. Lifeguard on duty at the top of the slide to regulate kid (and grownup) traffic. The slide pool was only 4 or so feet deep. Grandma and I could lounge poolside with a cocktail and book while kiddo hit the slide for an hour or two. (The slide closes at 4pm, so we used this as bait to leave Sea World by 2pm) The hotel is really close to Sea World, the concierge has discount tix. I suggest taking a taxi, as the flat rate fare is $6, but it is $12 to park if you drive, and you may end up in an overflow parking lot that is practically back at the hotel! I can see how the pool would be too crowded during high season. Our final day saw an increase of visitors at the pool, and even though not every lounge chair was taken it did feel cramped. LOTS OF KIDS, not a ""romantic"" getaway. Limited food options, but what we ate was great.

I surprised my husband with a 30th birthday trip to San Diego in mid January 2009. I booked this hotel because we got a great deal and it looked beautiful. After reading some reviews, I was quite worried, but it turns out I had nothing to be worried about! They checked us in two hours early and upgraded us from an Ocean View King to a Ocean View King Corner Suite for FREE! I just requested that we be as high up as possible, and the girl at the desk gave us that room. When we walked into our room, we were thrilled. We were on the 11th floor of the tower and the 180 degree view was gorgeous! The room had two flat screen TVs, a living area, a comfy bed, an awesome stand up shower with glass doors, and everything else we could've possibly wanted! I don't know about the other parts of the hotel, but if you stay in the tower, you can't go wrong. The location is excellent as Mission Bay is very central in the San Diego area. I would stay there over and over again and have already recommended it to many people.
