Took my family on vacation and booked into this hotel for three nights. Rooms are extra small. You can only pass by the foot of the bed one person at a time. Rooms didn't have AC and there was no screen in the window. Had to request a screen. If you want a room with AC you have to request it when you make your reservation though it doesn't tell you to do that. No racks for suit cases so they had to go on the floor. A lot of fun sorting through your clothes on the floor. Hot tub jets didn't work for two of three days we were there. Pictures on website make it look you are against the ocean. You aren't. Staying on second floor will cause you to have a sky light in your room which was great until the sun wakes you up the next morning at 5:00 a.m. Paint peeling from sky light walls in bathroom. Wouldn't stay here again.

I recently made a reservation on Pet-Friendly-Hotels.com for myself, my son, and our dog. On the second day, after housekeeping saw our dog's travel cage, she reported us. I then got a nasty note from the front desk saying they were going to charge me $250 for not reporting my dog at check in as well as and extra $40 per night for the dog. This is despite the fact that I made the reservation and prepaid for the room at Pet-Friendly-Hotels.com!? How can they get away with this? I tell you what, I will never stay at this hotel again, and I travel to the Monterey area a lot.

The room was really small, just a bed, a long desk, and a bathroom, and hardly any space to walk around in. There also was no dresser, which was somewhat inconvenient. But the room was very clean, and I really liked the decor. The continental breakfast was good, with a variety of healthy food choices. I also liked the pool area; there's both a pool and a hot tub, with towels located at the pool area for convenience. I thought the bed was just fine, though my husband says the bed was too hard and kept him from getting a good night's sleep. The location was good; close to the beach and not far from Fisherman's Wharf.

We got to the hotel after a long day of walking. We checked in and went up to our room, but it had been missed by maid. They apologized immensely and upgraded our room. The whole hotel was so nice and clean (after we got a clean room). The staff was friendly and very, very helpful. We were able to just relax and enjoy our trip. The pool was very clean and we enjoyed the hot tub. This will DEFINITELY be our hotel when we go back. It was wonderful!

My ten year old son and I sayed at the Mariposa. We had a nice room with a separate sitting room with a couch, tv, microwave, and coffee maker. This was great since I could get up early and read with a cup of coffee without disturbing my son. We also had a pretty outdoor patio which we didn't use since it rained the one morning we could have been outside. The front desk clerks were helpful regarding directions. Breakfast was okay--cereal, pastries, yogurt, fruit, bagels, coffee and tea. A little heavy on the carbs for my taste.
