Great weekend escape
10/01/2009On a quick weekend getaway to vancouver, the metropolitan hotel was a wonderful choice. the location was very convenient, the room was spacious and the staff was friendly and efficient.

Perfect downtown location. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and not shabby, small but not a problem. Ethernet internet access excellent. Hotel's restaurant nice but pricey. Lot's of restaurants and shops within an few blocks as well as the art museum. We would stay in this hotel again.

Unlikely a need for another good review, but for this hotel stay, it'll be worth the time to write. Very clean, good people, comfortable bed and convient. Close to the ship terminal. You really don't need a car, but if you do I have one, I've added some tips for your stay to keep your cost down. Service was on mark. The pool requires a visit as well as the strong jets in the spa. The gym is generously packed with equipment. You have access to many cable channels, not that you will need it. Internet is included. You will need a jack, but they will provide it if you don't have one. I suggest to bring a long one so you can surf from anywhere in the room. There is no Wifi. There is still a lot of construction in the city as they are preparing for the 2010 olympics, but if you are an early riser, you will not have a problem.

We stayed here for one night when returning from an Alaskan cruise, and our only regret was that we weren't staying for more nights. Very elegant hotel, well-maintained, lots of nice features (pool, fitness center, business center, etc.), etc. We had a ""luxury suite"", which was absolutely beautiful - king-size bed, large, well-eqipped bathroom, small galley kitchen area, high-end toiletries & furnishings, etc. They were also very accomodating for a very early check-in on real short notice. They said the only problem was that they would have to give us a room in the back side of the hotel - that ended up having a great view also. Great location - within walking distance of Gastown, just off Robson St., very close to the art museum, cruise ship terminal, lots of restaurant & shopping choices. We did not have eat in the restaurant, as it appeared to be very $$$ and we were still stuffed from the cruise. We would definitely stay at this hotel again and would highly recommend it to others!
