This historic building is in a great location close to the Alamo, RiverWalk, Mall and freeway. However, they aren't giving anything away, and in this time of economic trouble, they really should be offering something rather than charging for every little thing. No free WiFi, expensive parking, expensive restaurant, $*/day mini-fridge etc. Not worth the regular price, try to get the discounted rates. The room was clean, but very small. Lousy old TV, very little storage room for luggage. Bed was OK, sheets didn't fit the bed. Breakfast in the Oro restaurant was greasy greasy greasy, and VERY expensive. Staff was courteous, but again, nothing extra. Tried to get some assistance with my rental car company, and the concierge was useless. Self-parking and available valet parking cost the same amount per day, very expensive. If you park in one of the "valet only" spots in the lot, they leave you a nasty note, even though the lot is right behind the building and small. They will forget to tell you there is another lot somewhere. Overall, I am lukewarm about my stay there. It was a bed in a convenient location, nothing more.

Visited SA over the Labor Day weekend after getting a good deal bidding. We stayed in the Queen Business room and here's our opinion on the hotel. Good things: Great location right across the street from the Alamo and 2-min walk to the famous RiverWalk. Lots of downtown dining and shopping in the vicinity. The hotel was old but neatly maintained. The lobby, elevator, hallways and the rooms were clean. The staff was friendly and polite. They also waived the $* internet charges since this was our first stay. Bad things: Outrageous parking fee of $* per day same for self and valet parking Also, there was no microwave/refrigerator in the room. Things to look out for: Internet charges are and additional $* for the entire stay. While that is not really expensive, most of the 2-3 star hotels give it free. Money Saving tips: The hotel charges outrageous parking fee $*/per day ;same for self and valet parking! There are lots of cheap parking spaces along the street behind the hotel. Better yet if you get lucky are public parking spaces which are free 6pm-8am and $* per 1.5 hrs on week days and free all day on weekends. On the whole, we had a pleasant stay at the hotel and would not mind if we have to stay at this hotel again.

All in all it was a great experience. The hotel is very nice. The rooms are clean and comfortabe. The hotel has a rich history and for a history lover this was great. The staff where very friendly and the location could not have been better. Check in was a breeze and the staff where not overly aggressive to attend my family. I know they where there if I needed assistance. The man at the front desk was very friendly and answered all my silly history questions without seeming annoyed. The only complaint I had was the pool area. The pool was very small and the hot tub was closed. I would not have used the hot tub any way but the way it was closed off was very unattractive. The hotel is a non smoking hotel and that is great but in the pool area there where a lot of cigar and cigerett butts and pulled off fake finger nails. This kind of grossed my daughter and I out and needless to say we did not spend much time in the pool area. I would definately recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Unless they have children expecting to swim.
