I would stay again at the Hotel Blue. Great for the price. The people at the desk were extremely helpful. They have a shuttle available, which made it nice for us since we didn't have a car at first. The free breakfast was wonderful...waffles, eggs, cereal, danish, etc. and not crowded at all. But the best part was free juices and coffee all day long. The room was okay- the flat screen tv was really nice. The decor was not great,-we were missing a desk- and the rug was worn, but the beds were WONDERFUL! and the hotel has free wireless internet, as well as 2 computers in the lobby with a printer- great for printing boarding passes or other items. The hallways were outside- which I preferred, since the weather was very nice. It is within walking distance of Old Town, but it is quite a walk for an elder like me, so we took the shuttle, and returned via cab- although the shuttle was willing to come back for us if we called. It is not far from downtown- if you like walking- and a short ride in a cab. There is a pool and a fitness room, but we didn't use either- they looked fine, but small. I didn't notice any hotel-run activities, there are no shops within the hotel, but there are many brochures that list sights and activities in the area. Our son arrived a day after we checked in, and he had his car. The hotel parking is within a locked lot which is opened only with your room key. We thought this was a great security measure.

I was overall pleased with my Hotel Blue stay. However, I'm an experienced traveler and wouldn't recommend Hotel Blue for new travelers or females. I wouldn't have felt safe in the neighborhood if my wife had traveled with me. It's nothing against the hotel, just the area. Also, this is a NO FRILLS hotel. It's a good place to sleep and shower while on a business trip.

I wasn't sure about this hotel after reading the reviews. I am very familiar with Albuquerque because I spend a lot of time there visiting family and friends. I usually stay at the Hyatt downtown one of the nicest and most expensive but I wanted a more affordable place but one that was still very nice and safe. One negative review talked about the homeless sleeping in the park across the street, there were some people sleeping there during the day but we got back to the hotel around 1am and didn't see any, plus the police station is just around the corner. The room is small but only because the furniture is a little too large. The bed is AMAZING and I slept very well. The bathroom was very clean and the closet was larger than most. Also the vanity area was very clean and also very nice and functional. I've stayed at a few of this type of boutique hotel and one thing they all have in common is that they don't care too much about details. The walls were scuffed and could have used a new coat of paint and the furniture was too large and too up valuble space, but these things did not affect whether or not I enjoyed my stay, they are just cosmetic. The staff was great, breakfast was delicious. No WiFi. The pool looked clean and inviting. The parking area is gated and can only be accessed with your key card.

At $* per night, I wasn't expecting what the website shows, so I wasn't disappointed. This place is not fancy, but it did look like someone is working hard to update the hotel. Some parts are old and some look new. I would recommend it for people who are just looking for a place to sleep while in ABQ.

Was nervous when we drove up. The exterior of the building needs some major updating but the inside was surprisingly nice for the money. Rooms were clean and there were more complementary toiletry items in the bathroom then in the expensive hotel I stayed in up in Santa Fe the night before. The tempurpedeic mattress was extremely comfortable, big flat screen TV with DirectTV. Free internet in the room and two PC's with printers for guest use in the lobby. Microwave and refrigerator in the room. Complementary breakfast in the morning. They will shuttle you to several places for free including Old Town and pick you up whenever you are ready to come back. Staff was very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay in downtown ABQ and can get past the exterior of the place, give it a try.
