I had a terrible experience!!!! This is why: 1) some type of construction was going on, noisy, dirty, and inconvenient, the hotel website did not even mention anything about the construction to alert guests 2) RUDE STAFF - from the moment I stepped inside the hotel the staff - this has got to be the worse I've ever experience. I am an experienced traveler. I will never stay there again!!!

First - the staff. I walk in and they look at me like i am bothering them by checking in. The whole time, they were so discourteous to me. There was 2 people who showed some decency - the head waiter in the resturant and the maintence guy. The rest were horrible.
Second - although it is a block away from Casa Mila - it is SOOOO noisy. I stayed on the second floor and hardly slept.
Third - the rooms are just OK. One of the other reviews gave huge kudos - I don't get it!
Consider yourself warned from a guy who does a lot of traveling all over the world (This trip was my 6th continent in 6 months - trust me you wont find many people who have visited more countires than I have). I stayed in a Riad for 40 Euros in Marrakech, Morocco 2 days before with better service and experience.
They need to fire the whole staff!!!
I will be back to Barcelona in 2 months and you can bet I wont be staying at hotel alexandra! -

The Alexandra was a nice hotel in an excellent location, the spot worth any inconveniences. When we arrived, the hotel was doing major construction and the drilling bothered the children as they slept in the morning. Also, there was no carpeting on the floor in our rooms, although there is carpeting in other rooms. The rooms, however, were clean and the bathrooms spotless and the tubs deep and the showers hot and hard. For some reason, my husband and I were put in twin beds. The desk was helpful in calling restaurants for reservations and for quickly responding to any problems, such as how to get our laptops to work there. Also, they were quick in putting in new light bulbs. We could stay there again, but would specify an inner room with carpeting and the large windows overlooking inner courtyards. Great location, however.

The hotel was very trendy and situtated in an excellent location. Within walking distance to Paseo de Gracia and La Sagrada Familia. The room was very large and the decor was very hip. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very clean and modernistic.
