  We arrived by train from venice...we were late and maybe that's why we weren't met...hotel location was picturesqe...away from town...metro bus service dropped you ...

  we arrived by train from venice...we were late and maybe that's why we weren't met...hotel location was picturesqe...away from town...metro bus service dropped you about 15 minutes from hotel...hotel shuttle service was prompt but shut down at 6:00 PM...drop-off points were near all the sights we wanted to see...staff was friendly and helpful...breakfast was good...restaurant is probably good but impersonal...plan on a long meal...it's almost as if they feel insulted by the quick way americans eat...twice was enough for us...overall, we had a great time and i would stay there again...a word of warning...don't go to the monastery on hill behind hotel unless you speak and understand italian...

  We book our travel to this hotel over six months prior to our arrival date. When we arrived at the hotel they informed us that they were overbooked, but that they would put us up at San Paulo della Croce. At first we were disappointed, but when we arrived at the alternate hotel we found we were in a superior accomdation that was high on a hill overlooking Florence. We had to drive down for our meals, but we could still use the hotel shuttle bus to the city.
  
  So although we only experienced Bettoja Relais Certosa for meals, which were great, we had a quiet modern hotel with great beds for our stay in Florence.

• finally felt like vacation

  This is one of my favorite hotels we have stayed in. We were not having the greatest Italy trip until we pulled into the driveway here. It has beautiful grounds with a monastery for a backdrop and it keeps getting better once you go inside. The staff is so helpful and accomodating and the rooms are gorgeous, dinner & entertainment by the pool and then the next morning a free shuttle into the city makes for a perfect stay. I would give this hotel my highest recommendation. They really made our vacation.
