I stayed at the Omni last week and had the absolute worst experience I have ever had at an hotel. First the reception guy, Chris, I do not think could be any more ruder to a guest. Second we found 3 Security guards sleeping on DUTY!!! We later found out, through another guest, that 3 vehicles were broken into in the parking lot. Then the security guards that were awake harassed my friend, who is black, saying that he wasn't a register guest and that he didn't belong at this nice hotel! We then went and showed this racial profiling rent-a-cop my friends name on the room check in sheet and his reply was ;Well guess there is a first time for everything! Our room had hot water on and off and the sheets smelled like a 1950's smokey hotel room! And then we get down to the front desk and they had withdrew money from my friends debit card and then stated it was just an ;honest mistake! I have a best friend who is a big travel agent in the Dallas metroplex, who set this stay up, has told me he will NEVER give the OMNI anymore of his business again. I have never complained before, that's how horrible this experience was for me!

From the beginning a wonderful experience. We went with friends who had booked separately, but the employees at the front desk were more than willing to get us rooms close to each other. The concierge, X, was phenomenal! He went above and beyond in helping us figure out where to go and what to do. He also sent us champagne and strawberries when he found out it was my boyfriend's birthday. The hotel even accomodated my boyfriends sister when she called to place a surprise breakfast on her, when they said they had never really done that before. Everyone was so polite and everything was great, especially the bartenders are so friendly. The only problem we had was the electricity went out in our bathroom, but they fixed it asap. There are some complaints about the pool, and I would definitely say it is more adult friendly than kid friendly. It is smaller than some might like, but just standing in it is a nice way to beat the heat! Great location and overall I definitely think this is where we'll be staying the next time we go to Austin!

We chose the Omni because of the location, close to U.T. The noise from 6th street was understandable, but the slamming doors and hollaring all night was awful. Had to call security finally at 3:45. I would never stay there again.

I did a lot of research before my husband and I travelled to Austin for a four day vacation. We settled on the Omni dowtown, and were very impressed with this first class hotel. I took the advice of a previous reviewer and signed up for as a Preferred Guest (free), and this entitled us to free internet access in the room (muc appreciated), as well as free drinks in the morning delivered to our room (Starbuck's coffee was terrific). They even warmed the milk that came with the coffee, a very nice touch. Our room was located close to the elevator at my request, but I would advise that there can be some noise associated with party goers returning from a night on 6th St. We had to complain after being woken up by some rowdy folks at about 2:45. After this incident, however, the hotel was very quick to ensure that our floor was quiet, even posting security at the elevator ""just in case"". The hotel staff was very helpful, with lots of good advice on where to eat and where to visit. The bathroom was beautiful, with granite counters and a great shower! Our only real complaint would have to be the difficult parking garage (spots are very narrow and there are alot of trucks), and it is quite expensive at $18 plus tax for self-parking. You can park around the corner for $5. We didn't realize that when we checked in. A great hotel, great staff, great location, 5 stars for sure.
