The stay was fantastic from beginning to end the room was fantastic also, clean and all the little details were what made the stay wonderful. If there was anything I thought was a negative I didn't like the view from our room it was sandwiched in between the two brick walls and the alley. Considering we were on the go most of the time it was not a big deal. The staff was friendly and courteous and very helpful with any questions we had. Room service was also very timely. I would definitely stay there again in fact we hated to leave.

We were put in the back with the view of the alley. The signature bed must have been 10 years old as it was lumpy and had low spots from years of use. Internet was an extra $10/day. Room coffee was not restocked each day. Entrance door has large gap allowing hall lighting to illuminate room at night. If you are comeing to see the sights stay somewhere else. If you are comeing to experience the locals then the Fairfax is no better than a Budget Inn with a inflated price tag.

My husband and I have lived in the Washington DC area since 1977. Much has changed since. The refurbished Fairfax Hotel with its famous lounge, formerly named "Jockey Club" immediately gives you a certain sense of belonging. My girlfriends used to come here, many politicians are meeting here, it is private, charming and "old world". The management is polite but reserved. This is the way we like it here in D.C. The dining room is "old English" sedate elegance. The dining experience is wonderful. You might think to be in London, Paris or Berlin. As a "Washingtonian" I can only recommend this charming jewel in our city.

All of the staff was extremly friendly, helpful and welcoming. The rooms were beautiful, spacious and clean. Beds were like sleeping on a cloud. A little noisy from adjoining rooms, but overall very comfortable and well appointed. Great location - convenient to train station, walking distance to shopping and restruants. No detration from renovation taking place watsoever.

Staff was very friendly, polite & helpful & as I said in review, excellent location. Bathroom was not perfectly clean but for a quick trip, it was quite pleasant with OK price. Bad news - I tried to book a repeat trip for 2 weeks later & price for same room had DOUBLED! Unless they get prices adjusted for repeat customers, I predict trouble & I won't stay there again.
