Overall my wife & I had a great getaway @ the St. Anthony. The location was great with several great sight-seeing sites close by. The hotel was beautiful, full of history, ambiance & character. The bed in our 9th floor room was the most comfortable either of us had ever slept on. Room service was quite good with with tasteful food delivered quickly & more than warm enough to eat. The staff was JUST GREAT - very courtious & helpful - including everyone from the valet parking personnel to the bell captain & front desk. The only thing that was not perfect was the bathroom in our room. The bathroom was a little small for me. We will be staying @ the St. Anthony again as it was a great value for the $.

The rooms are large, beautiful & well appointed. However, we had trouble with the hot water. Parking is an issue here, as it is with other Riverwalk accomodations. The best way is to use the the $25 hotel valet parking. They also offer $19 self-park, but the rate resets at midnight, not check out time. This option cost me $38 for less than 24 hours of parking. I also tried a $9 LAZ self-park lot on Pecan. That cost me $108 for 2 hours... They have a box system that is almost impossible to stick the required 5 bills into ; I only managed 2; before going to my hotel for help. By the time I returned 40 min.

Stayed at this hotel many times over the years and have always enjoyed it. Found the room and bathroom to be small, so if I stay there again I would get a larger room or suite. Let's face it, the hotel is old and needs to be updated. The service was outstanding; eveyone was very professional and nice. The resturant is nice decor but definitely overpriced. Breakfast buffet was 16.50, so we did not eat there. I really missed the Sunday brunch they use to have, it was always great food and people. The bar was okay but I really miss Pete's. First time I was there was 1972.

We had a wonderful time at St Anthony's. The staff was helpful and polite, the room was lovely. The large 4 poster bed had top quality mattress, sheets and duvet. The entire room was like stepping back in time, but everything was well maintained, clean and in perfect working order. The 10th floor terrace was beautiful and the lobby, chandelliers and staircases were spectacular with a large number of small intimate seating areas and a bar. Valet was somewhat pricey at $25, but it was indoor and secured. Parking everywhere else in San Antonio was just as expensive. If you want modern, St Anthony is not for you, but if you want relaxed and classic give them a try.

We stayed a the St. Anthony for three nights. We were excited because we had gotten such a great deal or so we thought. When we arrived we were told the pricing for parking. Valet parking was expensive which did not surprise me what did surprise me was that self park wasn't much less. Not only was it overpriced we had to drive across the street around the corner then carry our luggage across two streets while being asked for change by homeless people at each corner. Once we were in the hotel we were greeted by a grand lobby. The staff was very polite and professional. Our room however was a big disappointment. The AC vent made a horrible noise all night long and since it was mid summer in Texas turning it off was not an option. The paint was peeling and the bathroom fixtures were ancient rusting and leaking. The tile was cracking and the shower door wouldn't close. When I stepped into the shower for the first time I noticed several black hairs on the floor. I also found hair in the bathtub, the comforter and the pillows. When we went to breakfast buffet we saw that it was overpriced and the food was bland at best. The pool was tiny, the internet was too much $ a day, and nothing is complintary. For the money we ended up spending we could have stayed at a hotel on the River Walk with free internet, flat screen tv's, luxury pool, and CLEAN rooms.
