The Holiday Inn in Philadelphia's Historic District is pretty much a typical urban hotel. The room was comfortably sized and clean. I had leaky window and reported it to the front desk and nothing was done about it. The towel I left to sop up the dripping water was still then when I returned to the room. It stopped raining so it wasn't a big deal. I didn't much care for the heating/cooling unit, the type of which is generally found in a lower-end place. It's one of those built into the wall units always housed by the window. They are noisy, blowy and inefficient. The wireless was laboriously slow. When I commented online about it, I received the message that the system was fine, like the fault was mine. What I did like was I was a 10-minute walk from the convention center, and even closer to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Franklin's grave, the Constitution Center, China Town and much more. The price was comparable to friends I had staying at the Marriott downtown, but the internet was free. It's a reasonable place with a pretty good touristy location and the streets didn't strike me as being troublesome, day or night. Not a great place, but not a dump at all. Didn't eat in the restaurant, so can't report on that.

Know what you are getting for your money: An old Holiday Inn that is reasonably clean but only the basics. Perhaps you will get the room I was assigned (#654). It will be interesting to see if the housekeepers ever remove the tape from the window. Seems that there once was a sign of some sort taped to the window. The sign is gone, but the several pieces of tape remain in plain view. Free wireless a plus, but it didn't work for my laptop. Had to talk with a tech person who walked me through a procedure to make it happened. A good service, but why not have a working wireless system to begin with? Desk personnel were not friendly. Coming or going.

We were pleasantly surprised with the overall experience. The room was updated and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom shower was awesome. My daughter-in-law said she couldn't believe it was a Holiday Inn. The location was near to everything we wanted to see in the historic district. The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating to our every need. I would highly recommend this hotal.

Great location in the Historic District of Philly. Room was clean and comfortable. Not a lot of amenities in this hotel, but you don't go to Philly to sit by the hotel pool. Parking was $ per day, which is not bad compared to many other cities, and is very reasonable for downtown Philadelphia.
