We've just returned from our mini vacation in Sanibel. Stayed in HollidayInn for 4 days, 3 nights. What a charming place to stay! It has everything you need for a weekend getaway. We traveled with two kids, ages 9 and 10. We has stansard room and it was enough space and very comfortable for four of us. It has very nice restorant on site, where kids eat free breakfast and dinner with paying adult. Pool area is a little small, but we enjoyed it, during off season it was not croweded at all. Tiki bar and grill by the pool has very nice selection of drinks and lunch food, even ice-cream. Grounds are very beautiful and very well maintained. Stuff is very friendly and helpful. Beach is just step away from pool with plenty of chairs. Shells, shells, shells... Beatuful sunrise on beach by the hotel, no need to go anywhere. To watch sunset go to Captiva beach at the end of Captiva drive. And right after sunset go to Bubble Room for dinner which is just a minute away from Captiva beach, you will not regret it. We had a wonderful time and planning on going back there next year at the same time. September is perfect. Not too hot, no crowds. Plenty of shells. For a bigger shells go to Bowman's Beach at the end of Sanibel, right before Captiva island. there is small parking lot, $2/hour, but so much worth it. Take blanket or towels with you, there are no chairs there, take snacks and plenty of water and you will have the best time. Holiday Inn reminded us one of the all-inclusive hotels in Mexico, Riviera Maya: quet, beatuful, cozy, has everything you need . You come here and you forget all your worries.

We enjoyed this little gem of a get away so much we will return as soon as we can. The hotel is beautiful, with outstanding landscapes and waterfalls. The adjoing private resturant Courtnrey's has a delisceous menu. While we were there they had a 2 for * dinner special. Very resonable for the island. I would also recommend Jerry's Resturant for a great salad bar with your dinner. Also The Island Cow serves a most deliceous breakfast. We had an Onmle Oscar, stuffed with crabmeat, asparagus and topped with swiss cheese and hollandaise sauce, on our last day before checkout. We live in Florida, and are happy to have discovered this island getaway. Because the island is laid out in a east-west attitude you cannot actually see the sunset into the gulf unless you are at one of the ends of the island. The lighthouse point on Sanibel is one place to go, and the end of Captiva is another. The sunrise from our little beachfront is truly beautiful however, and worth getting up for.

My best friend got married on the beach at this beautiful and inexpensive hotel. My family (hus and two kids) stayed in the suite which was spacious with a small kitchenette and wonderful bathroom and a cute balcony. The staff was alright but I found them not to be accomodating at times -- we needed extra kitchen ware and the front desk staff nor the restaurant did not want to accomodate until I made a fuss -- but other than that it was good. We also had a problem with the TV -- and although we noticed late in the evening -- someone was right at our door within the 1/2 hour to repair it. Theres a Publix supermarket right before you enter sanibel which has good prices and to stock up the kitchen specially for the kids. The pool is way too small and crowded -- but the beach is beautiful and clean. We always had plenty of towels and the room was always clean and so was the hotel -- with beautiful grounds and a tennis court. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!!! Enjoy your stay there!!! Also, the restaurant is limited and expensive -- if you are having one meal during your stay its fine -- other than that -- go somewhere else~!

We just spent three days and two nights there. The hotel, hotel grounds, and facilities are impeccable. The staff is very friendly and they do a tremendous job keeping the place clean and tidy. We went at the height of the tropical season when the heat, humidity, and bugs are at their worst. Yet, the hotel staff kept the rooms and grounds pest free. Ok, if you wonder out at night under the foliage the sand fleas will get you so use common sense. Our only complaint and a minor one at that is that the complimentary beach chairs were stored a bit too early, They should keep them out until sunset as quite a few people were still enjoying the beach when they were put out of their chairs. Also, eating facilities can be an issue. The on premises restaurant, Courtney's, has a very limited menu and there are no alternatives within walking distance. Those following a vegetarian or diabetic diet will need to drive around the island to find suitable establishments. Otherwise, I highly recommend this hotel. We call it affordable paradise. We will be back. PS- The pool is a bit small and crowded, but the ocean very close by and a better alternative.
