I stayed here with my wife to celebrate her birthday. The hotel has a good location, walking distance to Greektown, casino, and restaurants. The service was great and the rooms are spacious and very nicely appointed. They also offer a free shuttle to take you anywhere within a 5 mile radius of the hotel. The People Mover station is also across the street in the Casino. There is only a lounge/bar in the hotel and no spa, shops or pool. However, it is connected to the International Center Building which houses Fishbones and some small shops. I would recommend this hotel for a nice weekend getaway.

We celebrated our anniversary during our stay and had a wonderful time! The rooms are spacious and luxurious. Loved the flat screen televisions and room decor. The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Greektown. It offers shuttle service but we didn't need it since it's just a short walk to/from Comerica Park and Fishbones and the casino are next door. I highly recommend this hotel - definitely worth it!

  • Great place to stay.

I stayed at the Atheneum for the first time and I had a wonderful visit. The staff was very nice from the valet to the front desk and the bellmen. I really enjoy all suite properties and the Atheneum exceeded my expectations. The rooms were spacious, especially the bathroom. I loved having a separate sitting/living room area and the flat screen tvs are very nice. The bed and linens were comfortable and I had the best sleep in ages. I have recommended this hotel to friends and family as it is within walking distance to several restaurants, bars, Greektown Casino and it's a great place to stay if you're in town for a ball game. I'll definitely come back!

  • Beautiful, Huge Room

Great room, there's a living room, enormous bathroom, bedroom with windows. Nice decor and lots of storage space (as if you need drawers with all the space). Soft towels. There's even a corkscrew and bottle opener near the ice bucket. One caveat, in our suite there were 3 stairs from the living room to the bedroom. If you can't handle stairs check to see if they have rooms without those. Staff was friendly and nice. Location is great, Greektown seems lively 24 hours a day, and there are plenty of casual restaurants and nightspots within a few blocks. The casino is around the corner, if you're into that. The ""people mover"" downtown train is across the street from the hotel and you can take it anywhere downtown for 50 cents. But we also walked (to Joe Louis Arena and to the riverwalk area where the Red Bull air races were going on). Anyone coming to downtown Detroit should give the Atheneum a try!
