Wouldn't stay there again. Tried to cancel and check out the day we arrived, but between my cell phone reception, the customer service rep's heavy non-english accent, the afternoon thunderstorm, and no availability until the following day at the Hampton Inn across the street, when I lost my phone connection, I gave up, and we stayed Getting to the beach wasn't as convenient as I had hoped. It involved a hike across a very busy street, and down a paved access about a city block long. The umbrella and chair rentals were another city block down the beach. This late in the summer, it's always a gamble if you're not out there well before noon, so even though the room was less than desirable, we stayed a day longer just to try and get some more time on the beach. The room smelled of sweaty kids or dogs or both. There was a desk chair and a single lounge chair. The bathroom was dark and dank, the coffee maker died the second day, there was no bar in the hotel, the breakfast buffet was overpriced, self-service with plastic ware and one terribly slow waitstaff. The staff people were polite and tried to be helpful, but when we complained that our pillows smelled and were dirty we traded in all six and were given two slightly less smelly ones. There was no phone book in the room, no room service for breakfast, but the internet connection allowed us to solve those problems and St. Augustine is so small we were just minutes away from everywhere. Overall, 2 out of 5 smileys.

My wife and I chose this hotel over several other possible hotel options at St. Augustine Beach. This hotel was excellent from the time we were greeted to the time we checked out. The staff was courteous and friendly and understands how to serve the customer and make them feel special. The hotel was spotless, being continually cleaned by a caring staff. The pantry was well stocked and easily accessible and the breakfasts were personally cooked to order by the chef. The breakfast is an excellent value being right on site with sliced fruit, juices, fresh waffles and pastries all in a buffet style topped off with your eggs, french toast, pancakes, bacon, sausage, etc? cooked to order. I would highly recommend this hotel. As we all know a person never knows about a facility until you see it first hand. The few negative reviews that I saw caused me to wonder about this facility. When I saw it first hand I knew instantly it was excellent and well managed. I would give this hotel a 5 star rating and wish we could have stayed another week. The location was excellent as well being less than a block from the ocean which was our number one attraction for this trip.

Hotel was very comfortable. Hot tub at the pool was very relaxing. Walk across the street to the beach was awesome. Pool could have been heated at this time of year (Feb). I would recommend this hotel and definately would stay here again!
