This hotel isnt easy to spot from the road but so quaint once found. I was kind of upset when the room I booked was over sold and told I would be put up at another hotel for the first night of two. This substitute resort hotel was approx 1 mile north but very nice. It actually had more amenities than the original hotel! On the second night I checked into the Ocean and although it required a move from another hotel/room I didnt really mind. (I am flexible like that) The staff was friendly and the replacement room was an upgrade from my original booking. This was the 2 bedroom suite but house keeping did have to be called to complete the servicing. My best memory was of the outstanding Mojito made by the attractive Argentinean bartender from the adjacent restaurant. (ladies dont miss this one) Ah yea...I'd stay again

This hotel is in a great location for Ocean Dr. It's on 12th & Ocean, and everything gets pretty lively around 6th, 7th, 8th. With that said, it only takes a few minutes to make it all the way down Ocean. We were on a guys trip( 5 total). We had the 2 bedroom suite, and a 1 bedroom suite. If you're traveling in a group I would just get separate rooms. The 1 bedroom was much better than the 2 bedroom. The layout in the 1 bedroom had much more space. The common denominator for the two rooms was the FILTHY SOFA!!!!! Yuck! We threw a sheet on top of that thing before we slept or sat on it. I didn't like the service at all!! We were supposed to have a sleeper sofa, but was told the room with the sleeper sofa was booked. What the hell?!!! After complaining to the front desk, they UNWILLINGLY provided a roll away bed for free( They wanted to charge $50.00). If you want your sheets cleaned/replaced daily you must remove them and/or tell them so....But wait! We requested new sheets and they said okay. However, we cleverly marked the sheets with a pen prior to asking for new ones, and returned to a NEATLY made bed with the same old sheets with the markings. We were done!! Never again. Great location, but everything is relatively close so you really don't need to be right on Ocean Dr. There are better hotels in walking distance, or a 5-7 min cab ride. Seek elsewhere!!!! Trust me on this one!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Ocean for 4 nights last week. Everything about it was perfection. When we got there they gave us a free upgrade to a beautiful suite with an ocean view. The beds are EXTREMELY comfortable - absolutely nothing like your typical hotel beds - and the room was very clean and attractive. I was worried that being right on the main strip it would be too loud to get any sleep, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the restaurant quieted down around 12, which was fine because we were getting back to the room after that anyway. All of the hotel staff we encountered were incredibly friendly and helpful - they make you feel like they appreciate your being there and want to make you feel very at home. They offer hotel chairs and towels too, which is a major plus, as most resorts make you pay a hefty price to rent chairs. The restaurant in front of the hotel has DELICIOUS food and an extremely friendly staff in a fun atmosphere. Their lunch menu is really cheap - make sure you eat there! The location could not be any better. Cross the street and you are on the beach. Ocean Drive, Collins Ave, and Washington Ave are all parallel to each other and have everything you could ever need in walking distance (definitely don't need to rent a car!)...awesome restaurants, bars, and clubs. Everyone is so friendly - doesn't feel like a city. South Beach can be expensive but it's easy to find places with reasonable prices if you do a little research, and most places have their menus outside. We absolutely loved this hotel and would not even consider staying anywhere else next time!!!

We had read the other reviews so we checked our room before moving in our things. Like several others had experienced, they tried to put us in the wrong type of room initially. Once we pointed it out, they ""realized"" their mistake and changed us to the Ocean-Side-Suite (note, not ocean view) that we had booked. We loved the room - much larger than others on Ocean Drive, jacuzzi tub, and of course, the location. We had no problems with security, cleanliness, temperature, or bugs. Our main problem was the music that played until 1-2:00 each night, which admittedly had been discussed in other reviews. What we did not expect was very loud Italian restaurant music. There was also a full drum-set in the courtyard and patrons would break into their own drum solos randomly during the night. The windows were poor sound barriers. Even though we expected the music and were keeping a late night schedule, eventually it got to be too much and is the main reason we would not stay there again. Much like a charming European hotel, staff was sparse (but polite), some spoke no English at all, mattresses were old and soft, and they ran out of face towels. Security could have been an issue since outside access was not locked at night. They no longer had their half-price-admission contract with the nearby gym so memberships were $35/day (but only $15 if you belonged to their extensive list of affiliate clubs.) Wi-Fi worked in the room as long as you stayed close to the window. We used the nearby municipal parking lot as recommended by another reviewer, which worked out well but rates have increased to $20/day (still cheaper and probably easier than valet service.)
