Aqua Aloha Surf is a hotel in ownership transition. We ended up in two different rooms because of overbooking (but were upgraded so no complaint). Some of the decor has been updated, but the hotel is older and it shows. The continental breakfast consists of toast, muffins, pancakes, oatmeal (w/ no milk) and unripe fruit. The lobby coffee machine produces awful coffee from liquid concentrate, or you can put in money for a cappuccino or latte. There is only one ice machine for a 16 floor hotel. Most of the front desk staff were courteous and helpful. It is an easy walk to any Waikiki restaurants, activities and shopping, For the amount of time spent in the room it was fine.

Stayed over the Columbus Day weekend, got in the hotel on Friday 9 October, around 8:00 am, check in wasn't until 3:00 pm. I thought I was going to have to wait the whole day to get my room, but the hotel clerk or manager (asian guy) saw me sitting there and told me he can check me in early. Overall the whole staff were very friendly. The breakfast could use some improvement, add hard boiled eggs, peanut butter & jelly, get rid of the margarine and use butter instead. Stronger coffee.

We were very pleased with this hotel. The location was great, the staff was very friendly and accommodating and everything was clean. I lost some jewellry and they even wrote us to tell us they found it and would send it back. Now that's commendable. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed for 6 nights and very much enjoyed our stay. The rooms are quite small, but you really cannot beat the price. Breakfast was very good for the first couple of days, but got redundant after awhile (pancakes, toast, donuts, oranges/bananas, and oatmeal). Our room was on the 2nd floor, and we were awoken every morning at 530am by garbage trucks (we never requested to be moved, all though in retrospect we should have at least checked). Bed was quite uncomfortable and we felt a bit squished (since we have a king-sized bed at home and full-sized is not as spacious). Pool and workout facility (3 machines) was very small, but why bother when the beach is 3-4 blocks away. Hotel is conveniently located to restaurants and shops. Staff was all very helpful and nice. Wifi barely worked in our room (as we were on 2nd floor immediately above lobby), so it is my understanding that wifi only really works in lobby.
