As far as the hotel, couldn't ask for a better stay or friendlier people. Very clean and beautiful place to stay. Travel online on the other hand pretty much ruined our weekend getaway. Times are tough right now and tried to take my family on a mini-vacation. Booked with travel online and it CLEARLY stated funds for trip are immediately withdrawn from credit/debit card. We thought we had $* taken out of our account, but that was just on hold for a week. The $* did however come out 3hrs after booking. Needless to say, after many phonecalls on vacation, got nothing more than "I'm sorry. There's nothing I can do." We're barely getting by as it is and it almost wasn't worth it to take our 6yr old girl on her first vacation because THE FUNDS SAVED FOR HER WERE ON HOLD AND COULDN'T BE RELEASED, AFTER FUNDS WERE TAKEN OUT! Not to mention overdraft charges because FUNDS WERE ON HOLD! Hopefully will be able to take her again soon to make up for this trip, BUT NOT THROUGH TRAVEL ONLINE!

Our 2 day/1 night stay for our trip to DC could hardly have been better. From the moment we walked in the door, until we picked up our bags from the convenient storage room, every staff person was courteous, helpful, and friendly. Our room was ready early; we were able to check-in, get freshened from travel, and get organized before starting out to explore. The room was of good size, nice ammenities, comfortable furniture, good lighting, and clean. We were in the room about 10" when the houskeeper knocked - needing to change the cover on the ironing board! I think if they care about something like a stain or tear on an ironing board cover, they must be careful about linens and the rooms, in general. The little extras in the lobby (cookies/coffee) were appreciated - though we often seemed to be coming and going just at the tail-end of the cookie tray. Staff answered every question we had about getting around; the convenience of the metro across the street and hotel in walking distance of many points was invaluable to us! Free wireless helped in planning our days. The pool small and echoey) was a welcome refresher after a long day of walking and touring. Dinner on-sight was delicious, with a very friendly waiter. If I had to list any negatives, the first would be a .75 charge for a call that should have been local. Also, the "24 hour Pantry" was not as well-stocked as I thought it might be. We would have appreciated more microwave food options, especially quick breakfast items as the bufffet was a little much for us - both in price and amount. We are light breakfast eaters and went off-site for breakfast. A good choice as a base for exploring DC!

Our family stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in May 2009 -- and we would definitely go back there! The location was fantastic - we were within walking distance to most tourist attractions and felt safe in the area at night. Even though it's an older hotel the rooms were very clean and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. - from the desk clerks, belllhops, maids and restaurant staff. They made us feel very welcome - like a home away from home. We also enjoyed the wonderful breakfast buffet at their restaurant in the mornings. The kids are already asking when we can go back!

Hotel stay was great. The front desk was very friendly and got us checked in quickly. One of the staff members even remembered our name the next time we entered the lobby. That was a pleasant surprise. The other staff members were very courteous and helpful as well. The rooms was clean and a nice size (we had 2). We had the king size bedrooms. The hotel is located close to many of the attractions as well as the metro. Bring comfortable walking shoes and go for it. I would definitely stay there again. The only negative, hotel parking is $30.00 per day plus tax.

Close to Metro subway stop (across the street) - with quick ride to Smithsonians and National Mall - or easy walk downhill for those so ""inclined"". We also used the red Circulator buses to get around town - great idea for going over to Georgetown without the misery of finding parking - and just $1. Ask the valet for the red Circulator bus map. The hotel room and bathroom were very clean, soft bed, and in-room fridge - simply great hotel for the price. Only negative is that we forgot to get a receipt for our car from the valet attendant - made for an interesting few moments at checkout - no biggie though as the car was safe and sound downstairs in the garage. Also, the valet team could use some training on the locations and routes to select tourist spots throughout the town. OK, most tourists should easily find their way about Washington with the abundance of good/free maps available but, in my opinion, both desk staff and valet staff should have more training in overall town geography/layout, and especially museum, restaurant, cafe, bar, etc locations in order to better serve guests in one of the world's great tourist cities.
