We had originally booked a 2 night stay at the Atlante Star hotel. When we arrived at the Atlante Star, the manager said that they had run out of hot water and that they have held a room at a hotel nearby called the Hotel Dei Consoli. We were a little frusturated until we met the staff at the Hotel Dei Consoli. They were more than eager to help us out in any way possible! The bellman would not let me carry our luggage, he insisted that we had as little to do as possible! The manager was very friendly and knowledgable!! He had no trouble speaking english and always answered any questions with ease. He also gave us recommendations on great local resturants and nearby spots to just relax and have a glass of wine in peace! The rooftop restaurant was absolutely beautiful and in the morning. The breakfast was delicious as well! Located just a walk away from St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museum, we couldn't have asked for a better location!! The train station was also nearby and cheap at 1 Euro per person with access to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the Colloseum. This hotel offers the best location so you'll never have to take a taxi or rent a car! WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN SOON AND WE WILL STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!

09/21/2006The facility is immaculate. very nice, clean rooms. great breakfast. great location for the vatican, shopping and restaurants. lots of shopping and restaurants in the area. public transportation (bus, metro) ...
The facility is immaculate. Very nice, clean rooms. Great breakfast. Great location for the Vatican, shopping and restaurants. Lots of shopping and restaurants in the area. Public transportation (bus, Metro) only 5 min walk. Walking distance to Piazza del Popolo. We will definitely stay here again the next time we're in Rome.

The BEST service:courteous front desk- went out of their way to be helpful (e.g., give directions). The free breakfast was outrageous- coffees, Italian pastry, eggs, bacon, Italian rolls, fruit & fresh juice. Very clean room was nicely decorated with its own safe A/C control (very important). Great location - close to the Vatican, Basilica, shopping and transportation.. Can't say enough. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG. Eat next door at the Taverna Varrone - the food is great.
