Was a bit skeptical after reading all the reviews about the hotel, but was pleasently surprised when we arrived. The staff is VERY friendly and willing to accomodate to any of the needs. The one thing that I did find a bit annoying was the deal with the restaurants for dinner and them being all booked the entire time. The buffets were more than enough. All-in-all it was great!!

We stayed at the Viva Wyndham Maya Sept 5-12, 2009. Our room was in the newer building in front of the hotel away from the beach. It was a brief walk to the beach but we were right next to the adult pool. In the morning, we went to the beach and activity pool and would end up at the adult pool in the afternoon where it was quieter. The bartender at the adult pool, was excellent. He was fun and made great drinks! In fact, most of the drinks I did get were good. The beach was beautiful and was nice to walk down. Yes, there are a lot of Europeans at this hotel and along the beach, but if it wasn't for all of the Europeans, Mexico would be hurting. If you are offended by topless sunbathers, don't go here. The thing I was not happy with was the food. We have been to many all inclusives and I have always found enough good food to gain weight. At this hotel, I did not gain a pound! There were few good items to chose from but the food was pretty much the same day after day. The pizza down by the pool was very good but how much pizza can you eat in a week. I lived on Salsa and chips for the most part. My husband did get sick on the last three days of the trip. We did not eat away from the resort so we have to assume it was due to the food or drinks at the resort. We have been to Mexico 4 other times and have never gotten Montezuma's revenge so this was new for us. For the price we paid for this trip, we got what we paid for.

Overall, I had a good time at this hotel. The only problem I had was that the food from the buffet was not good. All the restaurants that they say they have, most of them are not open. It is mission to reserve for the restaurant. Despite of the hassle, the food offered at the restaurants is really good. Also, the beverages offered are not good at all...well, expected from an all-inclusive. The rooms are very nice and the people are friendly. Honestly, I am not planning to stay in an All-Inclucive anymore and if I do, it will be a 5-star hotel or the like. Riu Hotels would be my next choice. I do not know if I would stay again there.
