The elevator is scary! Especially since after a night late out on the town, we got stuck on the 7th floor for 3 mins, panic ensued. Finally, it moved because a couple in the lobby pressed the up button so when we got down in the lobby, I was upset. The hotel staff behind the desk ask me if I used my key??? They never told us that you need to enter your key for the upper floors after dark!! The next day, in the elevator, talked to another couple who said they experienced the same problem. Way To GO in informing your guests of such trivial but crucial matters! Also, no service elevator so the tiny claustrophic elevators were packed in with guests and housekeeping staff, hard to breathe or think in that situation. We reserved a King Artist for $189/night and was amazed at the size of the room, no place for our luggage or us to walk around. When checking out, I happened to inquire if we received the room we paid for and staff told me there were bigger rooms at the same price, located in the corners of the upper floors, but only on request! Another tidbit they failed to relate on check-in. They posted me an email before I arrived about a special, half off of mini-bar. When I inquired about it at check-in, they told me it would be a $30 fee/night for this special, so not too special of an advertisement. It's a non-smoking hotel as of the beginning of 09, not told about this prior on any website for the hotel. Who wants to ride THOSE creepy elevators just for a smoke??? Next time, we will choose another place to stay.

My wife's and first vacation in two years was to seattle, and to the Hotel Max. Checkin at the Hotel took way to long and the people behind the desk were unfriendly. When we got to the room it was incredibly small 10 x 10. There is no places to un pack your clothes and put them away i.e. closet or drawer space. My first thought of the room was that i was back in college living in my dorm room. The bathroom has no counter space so if you are not by yourself it will be a very cramped space. the bath tub drain was clogged so you took showers in water up to your ankles. I asked for the front desk to call for a taxi after 15 min taxi still hadnt shown up. Bell hop told us to it was going to be awhile becuase of Marineres game. The bell hop told me and my wife who was in 4 inch heels; to walk three blocks and ride the monarail. We walked one block and found 4 taxis waiting in front of the westin. The hotel does not have a spaw. The wait staff was very unprofessional. DONT STAY HERE. One a nice note the decor was very fun. Hotel has poteinal but stay somewhere else and be happy with your hotel.

We just stayed there with a large group. The staff was absolutely wonderful and couldn't have been more helpful. The GM was visible and there to help at any time. The rooms are a little on the small side but the price is right and the location is great! The first thing I noticed about the rooms is the fact that they are extremely clean. I would not only stay there again but have recommended it to people already and we just got home!

We arrived at 5pm and our room was not ready...however, the staff was very friendly and would bend over backward to accommodate our every need. The rooms were very small and it was hard for two people to maneuver around in. The bed was the most comfortable bed in the WORLD...seriously, it was hard to talk myself into getting up in the morning :)

Very nice accomodations but don't get a room next to the elevator shaft! Banging and klanging all night long. The wife found the shower to be a bit claustraphobic, we have a bigger shower in our camper. Nice amenities, clean room, friendly and helpful staff. Very nice for an older art deco hotel.
