The rooms are ok. That's all that's good that can be said about it. 1. The staff is usually indifferent if not hostile and rude. I stayed there two weeks and when I was checking out the clerk who had seen me everyday didn't know my name. 2. They tout wireless in the rooms - yet most of the time it does not work. If it werent for the signal from a nearby restaurant there would be no wireless. 3. There is computer in the lobby, but the parental controls are set so high that even completely innocent sites are blocked. The staff refuses or does not know how to change settings. 4. The neighborhood around there is dangerous especially at night with lots of homeless and shifty looking charecters. 5. The breakfast that is included consists of some cake and toast and a sweet breakfast cereal. The coffee was ususally cold. One morning they ran out of milk. 6. There is a sour smell thruought the hotel, like dirty laundry or mildewed carpets. 7. There is no bottled water in the rooms, and there is nowhere to buy any in the evening. When I arrived and couldn't find water, I was told that the vending machine on the third floor had water. It was out. It was not replenished during my whole stay there. I had to fill some paper cups with tepid water from the water cooler in the lobby. 8. The showers run out of hot water in a few minutes, your partner has to wait. 9. TV only has 6 channels. 10. No laundry bags for your dirty laundry.

The Washington Inn was a very comfortable stay, with excellent access to the convention center at a very reasonable price. The shower was very touchy. A fraction of a knob turn was the difference between scalding and freezing, but I was able to adjust. "

Beautiful rooms, outstanding staff service, great location, good price point for what you get; lots of wonderful restaurants w/in walking distance; very clean, and most charmingly renovated, with all modern amenities in old Oakland building; the staff is wonderfully accomadting and pleasant.
