My husband and I stayed at Hacienda San Miguel from March 4-8, 2009 for my 40th birthday. This was wonderfully located just a half-block from the West side beach (not swimmable), and on the north side of the main market square of San Miguel. We were close to everything - food, Isis car rental, shopping, people watching - you name it! This hotel was very clean with staff present to assist you. You were served a complimentary breakfast (4-5 sweet rolls, orange juice, & coffee) to get you going. We stayed in the Alcatraz Room - a one-bed (hard as usual) with kitchenette room. The A/C worked swell during the day, but we didn't need it at night, as it was pretty cool. The bathroom has some mold on the walls, but the shower was hot (if you let it run for a while). There were a few itty-bitty ants, so we did not have any food laying around. There were no bugs - but plenty of little lizards running around the central garden space that the rooms opened up to. A fountain and a sitting space where you could find a few gals doing yoga in the morning... We recommend this for singles & couples. Perhaps not for families with kids or younger party folks, as there is no pool or activities, but if you're looking for a low-key and quiet place - then this is for you! My favorite restaruants (Kinta & Pancho's Backyard) were right within walking distance! There's also a great bakery just 1/2 block east and a couple blocks south of the hotel - great coffee & wonderful baked goods. I also recommend Isis car rental - Margarite is great!

We have been to Cozumel many times, but Hacienda San Miguel is by far the best place we have ever stayed. All of the employees go out of their way to ensure that we were very comfortable. The continental breakfast was great. It is the within walking distance to the downtown square, and many restaurants. It's just a short drive to the beachs. We will definitely be staying there again and again.
