This hotel is at Metcalf and Albert. It is indeed in the heart of one of the business districts, and of many government buildings, both of which give the neighborhood a buzz all day long. There is a Starbucks and Second Cup within 1 block. A pretty well stocked pharmacy/convenience store within 1 block in the variety food court. Staff very friendly and helpful. A very young bunch. In-room internet access costs approx $8 Cad daily. Free wi-fi in the hotel lobby, which is where I went. Lots of comfortable chairs for just that purpose in the lobby. The parking valet guys were very nice. In and out for once price of $12 daily. They keep your keys (not uncommon in european hotels in the country) so that they mack jockey around the cars for the best fit in a limited space. But, bring your own toilettries. Soap was not very good. Ours from home was much better. The room was certainly big enough but was very rough around the edges for our taste. A little peeling wallpaper here, a little damage there, and pretty soon the room starts looking pretty rough. However, it did appear to be mostly clean, if rough Would probably stay here again based on the location, if only the room weren't quite so rustic.

hotel staff not efficient or helpful (for example, could not make a recommendation where to eat, or give directions how to get to a convenience store); the promised muffins/bagel breakfast did not exist; restaurant had limited hours and there were no close convenience stores--so it wasn't overly family friendly. close to the canal, but we appeared to be more in the business district so very closed up at night. It seemed like it would be better suited to business travelers.
