We have stayed at Wind Chimes 4 times and have always been happy with our stay. If you are expecting a chain like hotel ( Marriott, Ritz ect) this is not the place for you. Staying at Wind Chimes is like spending the night at a friend's house. We never noticed any noise, but have never stayed near the bar. The room underneath the sun deck is very quiet. The more you stay at Wind Chimes the more the place seems like home. They remember us from trip to trip and have always given us special treatment, if you need anything, just ask. The food and drinks at the bar are great, if you are looking for upscale food and atmosphere stay at the Acacia ( sister hotel). You can use the huge jacazzi spa there if you are staying at either place unless they have changed the rules. Wind Chimes is a cozy and relaxed place ,walking distance to beach, with a homey feel. Make sure to let the hotel know you have a rental car in advance, parking is limited in Condado/ Oceanside area. We are looking forward to our next sta and we always recommend this hotel to our friends.

What a gem! The staff was wonderful (notably Ginny at the front desk who takes exceptional care of her guests, & the terrific guys at the Boat Bar). The property is well-maintained, with lots of well-decorated areas & nooks & crannies to relax in. The food & service at the Boat Bar is fantastic, & there are nearby restaurants. Also a couple of blocks away you can catch the bus to San Juan & be there in minutes. The beautiful & uncrowded beach is only a block away. Should we have the good fortune to return to Puerto Rico, we wouldn't consider staying at any other lodging. At Wind Chimes Inn the ambience, friendliness of the staff, location is totally enchanting.

The staff is nice and the place is close to the beach, well maintained and clean, but I found several things that I disliked: a) On arrival they charged our credit card for the eight days we were staying. It felt like we were kept prisoners and could not change our minds if we did not like the place. I suppose if they do not charge the credit card most people would consider going somewhere else. b) The room where breakfast is served looks nice in the web sites but the reality is different. It is dark, not too clean and does not feel cozy. There are tables on a second floor which are somewhat better but the service to these tables is mediocre at best. c) There are lots of additional charges: there is a tax on the breakfast bill that you only find out you have to pay on the last day, it is not included in the receipt you sign at breakfast each day. The chairs that you can take to the beach are $3 each and whenever you call a taxi you pay a tourist fee which is much higher than what the meter shows. So all additional expenses added together make this place as expensive as one of the good hotels closer to town and to the good beaches and restaurants. d) You are not really on Condado beach which is the nice beach. You are on a beach that is mostly used by surfers and where very few people go swimming. e) The pool is small and receives little sun because there are several buildings that surround the house and keep the pool in the shade. My suggestion is that you stay here only if you have a car and you want to surf.

Our stay at the Wind Chimes was the best part of our trip to San Juan. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The boys at the boat bar are great and know how cook up a great breakfast. We ate there every morning! The hotel is only one block from the beach and a few blocks from lots of restaurants. We didn't mind the walks. The hotel provides you with everything you could need. The friendliness and helpfullness of the staff and the homey feeling of the hotel makes this one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in!
