I've stayed at Casa Dona both times I've visited Vallarta. Beautiful hotel, great atmosphere and it is located in the prime spot. It's about 2 minutes from the beach and has a beautiful rooftop pool. It's located right by a cafe and a delicious restaurant. I would NEVER stay anywhere else. I'm in love with this hotel! The best value for your money!

We arrived at the hotel and checked in without any problems at all, we had a small room in the back with a window so we upgraded to one with balcony. We made the right choice, we loved having coffee there in the morning prior to breakfast ( I walked 1/2 blk to coffee shop on the corner) $1.00 for great coffee and we ended the day on the balcony unwinding before bed. Met our neighboring guest and learned alot of great info. They forgot to clean our room one day but as soon as I called it was taken care of. This was the exact type of place we wanted to go to even if it is a bit small. You can walk to many great sites and restaurants, the beach at the Sister hotel is great, we watched whales from the beach our last day there. The staff were very receptive to our needs, you must tip them however as that is their real means of income and you must think in dollars not pesos, it took a day or so to get the hang of tipping usually 10% was good, we tipped the maid 20 peso's each day and our room was always done right. The pool on the roof is right on but we preferred the beach. Look for the guy at the beach tip him and he will be remember you and take care of your needs at the beach. We will certain return to this hotel in the future as it is adult only the folks with kids can enjoy their other properties. Breakfast and dinner on the beach most days. If you like a lot of space this is not the place for you.

Went for price and pleasantly surprised. Just had a bad experience on a cruise because of stateroom neighbors so was gunshy. But there was nothing not to like about this hotel. It was quiet and staff were very friendly. Location perfect for catching buses. When I explored PV area I had to pat myself on back for picking this location. It's within walking distance of Malecon. The AI lets you use Los Arcos facilities, i.e., restaurant, bar, beach, spa, etc. We stuck to buffet 3 times a day. I understand at lunch you can pick off the menu but buffet offered assortment, especially deserts. We were told we didn't have to tip anyone but we tipped waiters anyway, 20 pesos which was about $1.50. We exchanged money at hotel which seemed to have the best rate. For some reason it was $23 to take cab from airport to hotel but $10 to take cab from hotel to airport; just the way cabs have it set up and Bellman at hotel got us a cab and advised cabbie not to charge more. Perfect beach with lifeguards. Have a person who helps with lounges and sets up an umbrella for you, part of AI. The swimming pool on the roof was unique and a quiet place to lounge around. Can't think of anything negative. Might have been nicer to have room at Los Arcos with view of ocean but we went for economy.

If you are looking for a Mexican experience this is a basic hotel with a great location within walking distance of everything downtown. You also have the ability to use pool and beach facilities at Playa Los Arcos. The hotel is very clean. The bed and sheets are of high quality. Hotel description is somewhat misleading in that it states the standard room comes with a mini-refridgerator. However, upon arrival, I asked and they provided one. Otherwise, would definitely stay here again.

Casa Do?a Susana met all our needs. It is the smallest of three associated hotels, with Los Arcos being the centerpiece. It is less than a block from its larger sister, which offers all the services a resident of that hotel receives to the Susana crowd. I asked to see a standard Los Arcos room, which is substantially more expensive than mine at Susana. The only advantage was a small table. The staff was excellent, friendly, fun, and helpful. The room was always cleaned beautifully, with extras; and I left a daily tip for the maid service - maybe that helped? Adults only, it was generally very quiet, and the pool on the roof and associated furniture was perfectly adequate. My son and I enjoyed it nightly after sundown. Our room had two comfortable double beds, a well functioning bathroom with hair dryer, a TV with remote and a phone and some sort of computer keyboard we didn't bother to try out, excellent air conditioning - a must in the heat of October - a personal safe, an adequate dresser and closet, and interesting Mexican decor. We were a block and a half from the beach and generally walked through Los Arcos to trade in our (free) enormous beach towels, and to breakfast at their beach-front restaurant with attentive waiters who remembered our names and a buffet that was reasonable in price and quality and changed some elements daily. We booked two tours through the concierge at Los Arcos; that worked perfectly and we got good advice. The Old Town location was a plus - easy walking to the Malec?n, Mercado, Rio Cuale and island, all the central elements of the city, and close to bus and taxi service for anything else. Nearby coffee shops and Internet cafes. Recommended!
