My husband and I first went in June 2007, only for 2 days due to our island hopping 2nd honeymoon plan. We fell in love with Caneel and saved for 2 years to return. We went this year with our daughter, 12, and stayed for 8 nights this time... June 30 to July 7th. The resort is beautiful, the people were beautiful, the snorkelling was beautiful. We met wonderful people and made friends, and were charmed by the staff. We will continue to save and go at a minimum of every other year. The views of the cays, the turquoise clear waters, the turtles and stingrays and millions of fish....even the black urchins are a wonder. This place gives you the full island experience, so if you need to be entertained or catered to, then do us all a favor and don't go. This heaven on earth is maintained by people with heart and history and soul. Raymond from the bar gave us snorkelling advice, charmed our daughter with his delicious lemonades, and told us about his home. Kenny from the concierge bent over backwards to schedule our outings, and greeted us by name in passing, * not only cleaned our rooms, but greeted us with warm hugs and a bright beautiful smile (even brought our daughter a present), and Chad our greeter was funny and charming and humble. I can recommend it for all of you looking for peace, unparalleled beauty, and the best people to look after you. All you have to do is appreciate it.

We ""honeymooned"" at Caneel Bay in 1987 and returned in 2008 with our teenagers in tow. We swam, snorkeled, went scuba diving for the first time, kayaked, ""sunfished"", hiked into Cruz Bay, taxied to Trunk Bay, ate lovely meals together (but they were usually late for breakfast). Sometimes the teens would walk the trails on the property, play tennis, watch soccer on the tvs in the cafe, or check their emails on the public computers. The beaches at Caneel cannot be beaten! We made sure we visited all seven beaches on our trip! The water was perfectly clear and snorkeling was fantastic. The entire family enjoyed it so much, we're going back this summer! Thanks to Rosewood for keeping Caneel clean, comfortable and classy.

Great views, super water, great snorkling, no drunk teenagers, quiet, plenty to do, eat downtown cheap or 4-5 stars or eat on the property. I've been around the world and Caneel Bay can't be beat. Maybe some place is as good, but for a beautiful, relaxing vactaion - go there. Second time was better than first - we are going back again this summer!

We have stayed at this resort about six times and always love it. We have stayed an equal number of times in other locations in the Caribbean and we always compare it to Caneel. It is a place to become physically reborn. The beaches are spectacular, food is great; you will fall in love. It's pricey but so is anything good in the Caribbean and most places don't compare beach wise. This is a place for people that like to commune with nature. Private dinners in the wine cellar are worthwhile and Albert's wine tasting program is most enlightening. It's ten minutes by cab into town so you aren't locked in at the resort. Rent a car for a day and drive along the north shore to see beautiful beaches. Drive to Coral Bay and have a great burger or fish sandwich at Skinny Legs and soak in the local flavor. The snorkeling at Caneel as well as the beaches are both wonderful.
