The Tremont is just steps from Michigan Avenue shops and restaurants as well as the museums and theatres in the area. Cabs are readily available. The atmosphere is charming, quaint and romantic. The hotel has a wonderful, comfortable lobby. Ditka's restaurant is located in the same building, providing a convenient and inexpensive continental breakfast. (We did not have dinner there, but it is filled with his sports memorabilia if that interests you.) All the staff people who we encountered - front desk, bell hop, valet -were very friendly and helpful. Although the room was not large, it had space for the bed, two nightstands, table, desk, desk chair, armoire and easy chair. The view of the street was great and, despite the proximity to the street, the room was quiet. The closet had enough room for both of our clothes and luggage. The bathroom was clean, but showed its age - that was the only negative.

I was extremely happy with the location of this hotel. I'm from the suburbs of Chicago, so normally don't stay downtown. Staying at the Tremont was close to restaurants, shopping, and attractions I normally go. You're less than a block away from the Mag Mile, Water Tower Place, the 900 Shops, and the John Hancock Tower, and within walking distance of the red line, the amazing restaurants at Clark and Grand, and much much more. To top it off, Ditka's restaurant is right next door sporting a great atmosphere and amazing food. The only bad thing was the bed we stayed on the first night. Simply running your hand over the mattress, you could feel each spring and wire. I woke up with sore back. However, I didn't have an issue after that because when I mentioned this to the Manager the next morning, they switched me rooms (free of charge) and I didn't have a problem from then on.

The Tremont is less than a block away from the Hancock building, seconds away from the best shopping that Michigan avenue has to offer. The rooms are spacious, well decorated and extremely comfortable. My only complaints were that there was no cable or coffee machines and that only a single elevator services all guests. Other than that, it's great and I would definitely stay here again.
