We stayed here for my first trip to Mexico, and it was absolutely fantastic! When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly staff who all spoke English, and we received some yummy "welcome drinks." The rooms we had were incredibly clean, and cleaned thoroughly each day. Our rooms each had a balcony looking out onto the beautiful fountains. Being all-inclusive, the mini-bar and room service were all free, which was great because we went in the off-season, so not all the restaurants were open when they would be during regular season. The restaurants had wonderful food; even the buffets were excellent - lots of variety, and all fresh. The staff was also very helpful, friendly, and efficient. They are very nice and appreciative to people who try to speak Spanish, and they even encourage it without making fun or being condescending. Playa del Carmen is close enough to walk to, also, but I wouldn't necessarily walk back at night. Taxis are relatively cheap from the city, so it's not a big deal. The beach was also very nice. There was a towel check out (saves A LOT of suitcase space!) and plenty of lounge chairs. Someone even walked around with drinks from the cabanna so we lazy people didn't have to go get them ourselves. The only minor con, I guess I would call it, was we went in the off-season, so not all the restaurants were open; however, there were plenty of other great places to eat. Also, there wasn't a whole lot of night entertainment due to the off-season, but they tried! Overall, it was an amazing trip. Even with only one day of sun, it was one of the best trips I've had so far!

The grounds, beach, food, and everything else here was top notch. We have been 10 times to Playa and the Palace was by far the best. I would definitely stay here again. Be sure to try both the Japanese and Krystal restaurants - the food was superb.

AMAZING! This is all I can say about this place. The hotel is beautiful, the service is amazing, the location is fantastic and beautiful and the people are so welcoming. I loved staying in a Riu and I will only stay at Riu's from now on. I was happy with our entire vacation that was bought through travel online completely. The only negative that we experience was the pick up service through Olympus. They were rude and never kept a consultation or meeting. I did however get to my hotel and did get back to the airport in the end. The hotel has a beautiful entrance, beautiful rooms, and amazing service. The entire staff were on thier toes and very educated. All the food was great and there is always a mix of different foods, and even though the buffett repeats itself take your time there is enough of everything to try a little at a time! It all looks good that you just want to try everything all at once!
