The room: spacious with a nice TV, large windows, suitable bathroom. The location: a bit far from the downtown action, but quiet. The staff: with one exception, we were disappointed in the way we were treated by the surly reception staff. Every question was received as an inconvenience. The shuttle: a great idea, but what they don't tell you is you need to call the front desk to reserve a space well in advance, sometimes...The hotel staff itself didn't seem to be clear on their own policies. On one occasion, while sitting on the shuttle waiting to leave the hotel, a reception clerk came out, put his head in the van and said, "All right, I have two people out here who called and reserved a space on this shuttle. You all say you did the same. Who's lying to me?" The tone was really offensive. In addition, when we called at 4pm to say we'd like to be picked up at 4:45pm, we were told we couldn't call until we'd reached the spot where we wanted to be picked up. So, when I called back at 4:30 and was told the next shuttle would be available at 5:35, you can imagine my frustration.

If you are looking for a Hotel that offers great ammenities at a reasonable price, this is the one for you. The ""extra's"" such as breakfast and shuttle service are great ; but does't come near the manager and her staff that work to personalize your visit. From small talk while you are enjoying a cup of coffee in the lobby (free) to acknowledging you as you work your way to the elevator. They did recently change to Free Shuttle service and eliminate going to the Waterfront but the staff is knowledgeable to help you get where you need to go. You can access the computer in the business center for directions, or if your brought a lap top take advantage of the free but slow WIFI in your room. The location gives you access to all Seattle has to offer within munutes of walking or driving. If driving park at the hotel rather reasonable price for daily parking and walk or use the bus that stop right in front of the hotel. There is one washer and dryer for guests use on each floor and believe me this trip it came in handy and they don't provide free wash soap but you can buy it downstairs for $1. I would stay away from the Cayenne restaurant for lunch and dinner. The food makes a weak attempt at being zesty and flavorful and fails in my opinion.

This Silver Cloud is located next to Seattle University, the visit was to drop my daughter off at school. We had noticed the hotel on a previous trip, and decided to book here due to its proximity, which seemed like the major advantage.
Turns out, the hotel is very comfortable, well kept, and well staffed with the nicest people (everyone from check -in to the shuttle driver were great) and generally a very satisfying experience. The big bonus was the free shuttle service. Seattle is a busy town, and driving can take some of the enjoyment out of the visit. The shuttle, with frequent departures and pick-ups virtually eliminated the need to drive. We will definitely stay here next time. -

I stayed here when attending a convention as the WA State Convention Center. Hotel was outstanding. Price was much cheaper than downtown hotels. Service was outstanding. Free shuttle to downtown very flexible. Hotel is 10 minute walk from Convention Center if shuttle not chosen. Highly recommend; I will take my wife here during our next visit to Seattle.
