When my fiancee and I decided to visit Palm Springs this month, we didn't know much about the place. We had heard that it was affordable and that it used to be some sort of Hollywood hang out so decided to look into it. My girl (she's Brazilian) wanted someplace HOT where she could run around in a bikini with a Caipirinha and her Chihuahua. I wanted a place that was quite and relaxing, where I could catch up on the Financial Times. We both wanted something romantic and decided to give this hotel a shot. The pool scene was perfect for the dog and the girl from Ipanema. Plenty of attractive young guys, probably actors from LA, and a bunch of decadent cocktails. Our high maintenance pup was treated like royalty too and when one of the waitresses offered to put sunscreen on his nose, I was speechless. Luckily, it was also possible to retreat to some peace and quite and the rooms I thought were comfortable. Lots of light, beautiful linens, and a nice sound system made it easy to relax. Also, the hotel is located in the historic area of Palm Springs which was interesting. At night we ate at the restaurant and were very impressed. The menu was sophisticated, and wine list was comprehensive. Some of the dishes were a bit pricy though. All in all, we had a great weekend and would return.

We celebrated our anniversary there. We were provided with a complimentary upgrade to one of their Presidential Suites before they even knew it was our anniversary. It was a nice surprise! The room was the size of a small apartment. Very clean, huge shower. It had a private entry and huge balcony area facing the pool. The courtyard is beautiful and tranquil. The pool is open 24 hours. Nice bar and restaurant. Parking is very convenient. The hotel is just 2minutes away from the strip by car-about 5 long blocks if you are walking. Even though there are other people around, you will feel like it is all for you. The staff is friendly. I read a review and someone described the hotel as having an "old Hollywood feel". We agree! We can't wait to return.

The reason I chose the Colony Palms... they are very dog friendly. It is a very hip, cool place with a feel from the Dean Martin era. The hotel guests are a great mix of gay and straight... All the staff at the Hotel were friendly lead by the hotel Mgr. Tim.
The Sunday brunch is a must at the Blue Palm restaurant. The hotel is also a short walk to down town Palm Springs to one of my other food favs... the Blue Coyote restaurant.
I'm looking forward to staying there in the future!

This is a charming hotel with a very helpful staff BUT the thermostat is set at 72 degrees and ran at 74 degrees. No one can change it to a lower OR higher temperature. I was unable to sleep in the heat. People may wish a warmer or cooler room for various reasons, but you can't have this here.
If this were an environmental reason, then there would be solar panels, recycling bins, native plants, and fluorescent bulbs. There was none of that, so the reason must be to save money.
