Stayed a total of 16 nights at this hotel. Would definitely stay again. Rooms are pretty small and tight but are typical of a Japanese business-style hotel. Great room rate! Good maid service, room was always neat and tidy. Hotel provides daily: Toothbrush & toothpaste, shaving razor, hair brush. Plenty of front desk staff, but not all understand English completely. Usually the female staff seemed better able to communicate in English. This hotel is centrally located very close to the JR Shinjuku subway station, very convenient for connections to all other parts of Tokyo. Plus two other subway line stations very close. Shinjuku is one of the liveliest areas in Japan, so this hotel was a great starting point for a night of entertainment (but be careful at night in the red-light district- east side). The hotel is far enough away so you do not hear a lot of street noise.

I'm almost sorry I picked the Sunroute Plaza to stay in for my first ever trip to Tokyo. When I return, I probably won't stay anywhere else! This is the one for me. My room, a 'bright single', was spotlessly clean, cozy, with a large comfortable bed and a gorgeous bathroom. It was smaller than many Western hotels, but it was still more than I needed. I had a fully stocked vending machine down the hall for late nights, a polite and english speaking front desk to help me get around, and the entire city 5 minutes away on the JR and Metro lines. The location is a dream for subway riders--and you'll get delivered right to your front door from Narita via Airport bus! What else can you ask for?

  • Ideal Location at a Fantastic Price!

Walk outside and to your left less than a block away is Shinjuku station. Convenient to the trains, food, convenience stores and shopping. The hotel was very clean and the mini fridge was able to fit a 1/2 gallon of green tea and other canned beverages. Vending machines on our floor were great when we were tired from walking around. We stayed in a double. Room is very small, bed only a few inches shy of a US queen. Larger people would best get a larger bed and larger room. If I had to guess, I'd guess the room is 9 or 10 Tatami large (12x14 feet sans bathroom). The bed had 2 pillows- 1 hard, 1 soft. Mattress very firm. Free internet via ethernet cable. Hair dryer included in the bathroom as well as 2 tooth brushes, q-tips, 2 hair brushes. Complimentary kleenex tissues on the desk. TV, I think 22" flat screen. I could not figure out how to get any English subtitles on the channels and found only one English channel available which kept repeating it's set day after day. Hotel Restaurant was high priced (for my tastes) about 20K¥ per head for the main course during lunch. Food was good but nothing I'd pay that much for again. Staff's English good at check in and out, and when I had questions for food/touring/etc... they gave me a map and pointed me in the right direction- always polite. Some Japanese speaking on my part helped, but was not necessary.
