09/29/2009If all you care about is location then this is your spot. "ski in ski out" . when i stayed it was not ski season so not so important. ...
If all you care about is location then this is your spot. "Ski in Ski out" . When I stayed it was not ski season so not so important. It is a noisy old building that has had a little lipstick put on it. I could hear every noise my neighbors made and there was only a luke warm shower and a poor excuse for a continental breakfast to greet me in the morning.

My wife and I spent 4 nights at the Ptarmigan Inn over Valentines Day weekend. We couldn't have been more pleased. We where looking for value and we found it! The rooms where simple, much like any regular hotel room. They where clean and comfortable. But the value came from the staff, location and ammenities! Every member of the staff, down to the house keeping crew where friendly and knowledgable. They made us feel welcome and at home. They even learned our names! While we explored the slopes and the town, the resturant and bar at the Ptarmagin was always a great place to return after a day out and about. They have a happy hour starting at 3:30 with drinks and aps that is hard to beat! We met many locals that told us this was the place to come after a day of skiing. We also met many wonderful people from around the world at that little bar... Location was wonderful, we where able to rent ski's right at the hotel and ski down to the gondola. And, with a little momentum...ski right back to our hotel at the end of the day. It is also a short 5 minute walk to the local bus stop. The bus runs free all day and late into the night. It is a great way to get to the many wonderful resturants downtown (recomend Cv Bistro for a great "top chef" type meal). You can also walk very easily to all the resturants and bars at the base of the gondola. Finally, the hotel hot-tub and pool was fantastic. There is nothing like sitting in a hot-tub with big fat snowflakes falling on your head. Also recomend the hot-springs and sweet pea tours! If your looking for value Ptarmagin is it!

The Inn was very clean, the staff were excellent and they explained what was available. the Inn is located on Steamboat Springs ski slopes and is ski in and ski out. It is close to a market and has a small refrigerator.
