If you don't mind a few extra guests in your room (roaches), a balcony door that is broken and really difficult to open, main door which is extremely hard to open, no towels by the indoor pool and a view of a dumpster from your balcony which you can hear every time someone throws something in it. Then I maybe it would be bearable. The staff was less then helpful. Definitely wouldn't stay there again.

LEt me open by saying I was disappointed in the LaPLay. It looked promising at first, beachside adn all but once you got up close you saw how RUN DOWN it was. I realize it is one of the older hotels but I would have thought owners would invest money back into their properties. The room was awful. The carpets were stained, bedspreads too. Paint chipping off the walls. The tub did not drain, well it drained overnight from our shower. THe kitchenette was in horrific condition. The refridgerator had rust and the burners on teh sotve were not properly fitting into their slots. ANd the worst part was there were ROACHES. I had to keep everything and I mean everything food related in the fridge. Chips, cookies, bread. Items you woudl normally keep out I put in fridge to keep ROACHES away. Also outdoor hottubs were not working, pool was jsut OK. Very, very disappointed!

The pictures are extremely dated on the web. Don't believe what you see. Staff is clueless. Rooms are dirty and outdated. A/C cannot cool the room (maint. said that was normal). Rooms look like spring breakers just left and we were there in late June. The ocean view is looking between one high-rise and the next. We made it two days and then had to move. DO NOT PAY IN ADVANCE UNTIL YOU SEE THIS PLACE FOR YOURSELF.

My wife and I dive down from Connecticut every year and we stay at the L Playa. It is not The Crown Plaza. But they take pets, the staff is very nice and helpful. Also when something is not right with your room they are very quick to make it right..

We booked through a online travel website and arrived early. Tiffany and Erika at the front desk were helpful and quick. We appreciated that, because we were very tired when we arrived. We found the room as advertised with two double beds, a separate kitchen and ocean-view balcony. Room is clean, but needs a fresh coat of paint. A little bit of unpainted wall doesn't bother us, because the room is clean. We haven't visited the pool or other amenities yet because we're excited about staying right on the Atlantic Ocean!
