We stayed for 3 nights during the Thanksgiving holiday. The hotel staff were wonderfully helpful, particularly when my husband became ill and had to visit the emergency room. We also had to revise our flight schedule to return early because of his illness--the concierge took care of this for us efficiently, quickly and pleasantly. The room was comfortable, though it took a long time for the hot water to come up. We liked very much being able to enjoy a beach yet being able to access our room easily. The beach faciliteis were fine, though the view isn't outstanding. We didn't eat in the restaurant because it offered only a buffet or room service, and I have a food allergy which prevented me from using the buffet. We did enjoy the lounge, however, Dunkin' Donuts across the street saved bundles on breakfast, and the fish fry was great fun, and though the fish was excellent, most of those restaurants offer very little in the way of wines. We did manage a Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter--wonderful for any age.

We stayed at the British Colonial Hilton in May 2009 and plan to stay there again. It was very convenient for us with it being close to downtown. The hotel staff were very nice--especially the rep.

Don't get the Romance Package!!!

I booked a romance package through the Hilton web site. It clearly said that the romance package included sparkling wine and breakfast in the room - although there was a disclaimer that the breakfast could be in a restaurant of the the hotel's choosing. When I asked about the possibility of breakfast in the room, though, the front desk clerk/receptionist said, "we never do that for the romance package." If the hotel NEVER offers the breakfast in the room for the romance package, then it should not advertise the possibility of breakfast in the room for the romance package. I chose the romance package and not the normal "room with breakfast" option solely to enjoy a romantic breakfast in the room. When I pointed out that the Hilton website advertised breakfast in the room, the clerk became argumentative and said that it was not on the website. She asked me to print it out and show her - an idea that struck me as strange. Why should I be responsible for showing a Hilton employee a Hilton hotel package? It should have been her responsibility to look up the information and confirm it proactively. A manager later on did come and offer us the breakfast in the room, but it was only after a long and frustrating discussion with Tanya. Needless to say, there was scant little romantic mood left for the "romance package." The sparkling wine that was supposed to be part of the package was also only delivered very late - after 10 pm - and that only after repeated reminders to the front desk that we had not received the wine yet. To top it all off, the room did not have any bath towels in it. We only got the towels after many requests!

Staying at the Hilton was a wonderful experience the staff is friendly and helpful and all the facilities are well maintained. I was a little disappointed to not find much by the way of activities. They also charge surcharges on just about everything but they are reasonable and you will not find anything better on the island.

The hotel, staff, beach, pool were excellent. I especially enjoyed the fact that it was NOT crawling with crazed spring breakers. The only problem is that there is NO spa on the premises, as advertised in the write up. Swimming at the beach was wonderful, but not a good snorkel spot - book a chartered boat trip for that. Other than that, loved it!
