Our Room was clean and had an unusual light wooden decor that seemed out of place for the area. We stayed on the fourth floor and had a small window overlooking the less than scenic parking lot. The Gouverneur is right off the highway and should be easy to get to. Just don’t make a wrong turn anywhere like we did as it is very difficult to find the way back through the confusing intersections and one way traffic. The room was much less elegant than expected: there was no refrigerator in our standard room. I asked for one but they were all taken. I guess I should have reserved one months ago. The tv setup was something to laugh at. It was a small tv on a nighstand like you would find in Motel 6. I thought there might be rabbit ears on it somewhere. Although the staff was bilingual, friendly and courteous, they did not offer to help with our luggage. We chose to stay here while touring Quebec City to save money on the expensive accommodations in the city, but the long traffic filled ride to Quebec every day along with city parking issues makes us wonder if its worth it. When we vacation here again, we may or may not choose the Gouverneur.

We stayed here two nights. The rooms were neat and clean, and the location is convenient to the highway, but this hotel needs to work on their restaurant service . The room service # did not function properly, and we got repeated hangups when trying to order breakfast our first morning possibly also a problem with the room phone. When we did get through there was no one who spoke english on the room service line and we were hung up on again when we tried to order. When we went to the restaurant the hostess took quite some time to seat us but then offered us an option of breakfast or lunch as it was late morning. We chose breakfast when we saw the buffet was still out. The waitress then took additional longer time to reach our table and as we went to take a look at the buffet while waiting another hostess yelled at us for looking at the buffet. The waitress who did come was then quite rude when we suggested we wanted the breakfast buffet. When we asked for the menus upon learning it was too late for the buffet she stormed off. This was so offputting we left without eating and got food in town instead. The language barrier was a bit of an issue, we were trying to communicate in broken french and english... but for a tourist hotel, this shouldn't have caused rude service. I was surprised by this service given the good buy status. This negative experience colored our first impressions of Quebec City. Luckily the rest of our experience was much more positive and the staff was pleasant at check out.. That said we never returned to the restaurant.

My sister, Mom and I got 2 rooms here for a long weekend - Externally, the hotel was dilapidated (peeling paint, rust, out of date finishes) Hallways and one room were decorated in what we dubbed "Norwegian Wood" , something resembling, and only slightly higher grade than T111. The other room looked more modern, with headboards and painted plasterboard walls. The staff kept the place very clean. Unpacking space in the shared room was tight, as there was just one armoire for storage. Hotel staff was very pleasant and most of them spoke English well. We did several breakfasts and a lunch (all buffets) at the hotel restaurant - the service was mostly good, and food was excellent. If you need to use the business center, ask at the desk for how to boot the computer in English - it comes up in French, by default.
