It was centrally located, right across from Buckingham Palace, a short walk to Westminster Abbey, and fairly good restaurants within walking distance. The complaints I have about this hotel are probably what you would find in most English hotels. The room and bathroom were not quite as big as we are used to in the US. It was generally clean, but not that deep down clean. Caulking and tile could have been cleaned better. The toilets didn't flush reliably, but we found the same situation everyplace we went in England. Room service was great each day and when we came back, our room looked just like it did when we checked in. The concerierge and staff were all excellant. The in-hotel restaurants were good but a little pricey. However, all things considered, I would stay here again if I were going to be in London.

From the moment you walk into The Rubens, you feel that it is different. The staff members are very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is lovely. The room was wonderful. We felt special in the elegant surroundings. We paid less to stay there in the lovely room, than at other hotels which did not offer half the amenities.

Didn't want to leave!

Excellent location- right across from Buckingham place- short walk or tube ride to the rest of the city. Extremely helpful concierge and doorman- they were extremely friendly! Had our bags inside and our check in information ready before we were even out of the taxi!
Convenient location to train and bus station if you will be visiting other parts of the country.
Concierge knew the tour companies well- Evan Evans tours picks you up at the hotel.
Our room was very smalll but incredibly comfortable- great bathroom- provided bathrobes, lotions, sleepmasks etc. Tea and coffee service in the room was great- room was cleaned and restocked perfectly everyday.
Breakfast was wonderful- with a lot of options, room service ws equally good. The lounge/bar is a great place to relax in the evening or have afternoon tea. The restaurant-The Library- was really impressive-expensive, but well worth it.
Very quiet- so if your completely exhausted from sightseeing or business like we were- you can count on being able to take a nap.
Our view was the only thing really lacking- all we could see was the hotel across the street, but we weren't there often anyway.
I will definately return! -
