This is a large hotel on a very busy street. Double windows block out all noise. My room was small but absolutely quiet. It was spotless. Everyone I had contact with was friendly and always helpful. The people at the front desk aided me with directions and with places to visit. English is spoken without an accent. The rooftop dining room ,which offered drinks and the food of Spain, had a marvelous view of the city at night. (There is a hot tub adjacent.) Breakfast was more than a feast, from juice and fruit of all kinds, to newly baked breads and rolls, to ham, cheese and eggs (and more), and tasty deserts. The only thing missing in tihis hotel is a comfortable chair in the bedroom. The TV has a modern large flat screen. The bathroom was spacious and very clean. The only problem was a half glass screen next to the shower which is connected with the tub. That caused a wet floor in the area. Getting around from this hotel is easy, e.g., walking down to the harbor with its seafood restaurants and on the Rambla the next street over. Other sights you can find from this central part of the city are by the modern quiet trains of the Metro with easy to follow signs and the minutes to the next train. NYC should take note. E.g.,The Metro and ifs funicular will take you up a mountain to the Miro Art Gallery, a lush park and a wonderful view of all the city. Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain. It has very busy streets but quiet places are easy to find.

We just returned from a three night stay at the Majestic Hotel in Barcelona. It is an impressive quiet hotel in a great location. We felt safe and secure and it offered beautiful views of the city. It is within walking distance to many Barcelona attractions. We were very pleased with our choice. This comparable to a four star hotel in America. There are numerous restaurants nearby also. We would definitely stay again.

My wife and I just returned from a weeks stay in Barcelona and we loved our hotel and loved Barcelona. The hotel is located in an ideal location - close enough to walk to La Ramblas and the nightlife, but far enough to step away from the commotion to have a quiet walk. If your ideal vacation is to be right in the middle of all the commotion and noise, I would strongly suggest staying at Hotel 1898 (very nice). The Majestic is a very nice hotel with a very impressive fascade at night. The staff was very helpful and nice the entire stay and I did not feel unimportant whenever speaking with any of the staff. The doormen are very helpful in finding close restaurants after a day of exploring - but I would suggest taking a chance and going into a restaurant if it looks good. Housekeeping was very dutiful in cleaning the rooms each day and they very much deserved their daily 2 Euro tip. The amenities were nice for a European hotel. The Majestic has a very nice workout room on the lower level with dumbells, treadmills, and elliptical. The deck on top of the hotel would be the bomb on a nice summer night but even during the day its got great views. Suggestion - you have got to goto Hotel 1898's deck at night during the summer. The bars were nice and very relaxing, however, if you are not under 50 like my wife and I its just ok. In all the Hotel Majestic is about a high 3 to 4 star hotel in America. Beware of the extra charges ie internet, refrigerator drinks etc - your bill does itemize exactly what items they are charging you for so beware or keep track
