It's not a Westin or some other American chain obviously, so expect Mexican. But the property is beautiful- you can't find anything like this in Hawaii. Everything is very clean. Great beach- you have plenty of sun, but also palm tree to lay in the shade. 2 huge pools. Large variety of food, presented cleanly and beautifully, staff try to make your stay enjoyable. Stayed at RIU's many times- it's a great, palace-style value for your money.

The hotel is quite beautiful and well landscaped, but it certainly didn't live up to what was promised. One reason we chose this hotel was their advertisements for multiple restaurants with varying styles of food. However, we only had one open for dinner each night, and it was always the same, medium quality buffet which became boring after the 3rd night. There are 2 pools - one for families with children and one for adults (posted by signs). The swimming pool designated for adults, however, was filled with infants and toddlers. Not only was there little quiet escape from screaming kids, many of the infants were in the pool without diapers and doing things in the pool which left floating "evidence" in the pool. Staff (when you saw them) completely ignored the disgusting situation. Construction in the building (including jack hammers breaking up concrete) continued until 11:20 at night. It was only after the 2nd trip to the front desk and telling the clerk that he needed to stop the construction or call an ambulance that we finally had quiet (the clerk finally realized that he would be the one needing the ambulance if the jack hammering didn't stop as midnight approached). The rooms were very clean, the beach was great, and the bartenders were friendly - - - but this place is a classic example of "not getting what you expected from the advertisements." There are many places in Nuevo Vallarta which are much better !!! Pick someplace different from this one, and we may see you down there on our next trip.

My wife and I just celebrated our 20th anniversry at the Jalisco 8/10 - 8/14 and would reccommend it to anyone. We have taken many cruises but never stayed at an all inclusive before now. We had read several reviews about the Jalisco, some good and some not so good. From the minute we arrived we were welcomed with a "welcome home" from the bell boy who took our luggage to the front desk girl who checked us in. We had read that the beds were too hard and the rooms were very musty. While the beds were not as cushy as the Marriot, they were very comfortable. THe room had a little of a musty smell due to the humidity but hardly a problem. The entire staff, and I mean everyone were very friendly. The grounds were kept up nicely everyday. If there was a downside, although slight, it would have to be the food. Not a very large selection and the restaurants weren't always open. I would reccommend the Italian restaurant for lunch we discovered it on our second to last dayas the food their was very good. For dinner, they change it to a Brazilian style restaurant and it is equally as good. The one restaurant to avoid would be the "Steakhouse" near the beach as the food there didn't look very appealing. The food at the sports bar were premade burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches which may have come from the Steakhouse. If you don't expect gourmet, the Jalisco is great!!

- The good thing is that it's on the beach, so you're close to the sand. - A bad thing is the high price to look at that beach sand--price=the money you pay for the trip, but also the experience and stress that adds or detracts from it. - Rooms are musty, not air-conditioned--I had to request another cleaning upon check-in - Loud & Noisy--some young kids are left in the hall to play and yell after midnight; teens and young adults stay late drinking at bars and migrate back to rooms at 3 or 4 am, waking everyone. - Walls, floors, fixtures are of non-absorbent materials and reflect all sound, hence the vast echoes and noise from many hallways away! - Suspicious staff--although many staff members are friendly, one of them stole my cell phone from inside my suitcase... unfortunately, I've met other guests of this hotel with the same dilemma. You may feel cattle-herded in this large hotel--the value of it can only afford a ratio of what feels like staff member to guest 1:60. However, I can imagine that this hotel appeals to families with young children because all other children are rowdy and energetic all the day... yet I still don't feel that these families deserve the cheap construction materials that keeps all of us from sleeping inside the rooms. I feel this entire place is overpriced for what it is and offers.
