We loved this hotel! The pool was awesome, and yes the beach is small. But you have access to the other Oasis resorts if you like the beach, and they have more better beach area. The food was awesome. You do end up waiting for a table if you go very late for dinner, but there is usually a bar right next to the restuarant so you just make it cocktail hour! A small tip goes a long way with the bartenders. They are friendly and give you good drinks and quick service if you tip!! The rooms were great, no problems with toilets or anything else. The place is clean and the staff hard working and friendly. There is always a slight moldy smell at beach resorts! It comes with the ocean. I noticed it in very few places, but never saw anything that I felt was unclean or neglected. This hotel is a great price for such a great hotel. If you want to go for even cheaper, book one of the other Oasis resorts in Cancun. You have access to several of the Grand's ammenities, but can stay for a little cheaper. Our friends stayed at the Oasis Viva while we were there, and they could come and eat with us and drink with us in certain bars and resturants. They said their food, rooms and other ammenities were very similar. We are already planning a trip back to this resort, and feel it was worth every penny! If you want everything perfect, book a five star hotel. If you book a three star because you are more concerned about atmosphere and fun than being flawlessly waited on, this is your hotel!

Went with a group of friends in November for our 10th anniversary. Had the all inclusive upgrade and had a good time. We enjoyed the drinks, views and pool. The staff was appeared very generous and a few dollars tip went a long ways. We had an unfortunate episode and had to visit the onsite Dr. Very pushy and wasn't real sure of himself. Other than this it was a great time and atmosphere. We would definitely stay again.

The service at the Grand Oasis Can-cun, overall at the reastaurants, was superb. They really care for the tourist. The food was really, really good. The rooms are very poor in quality, they do not smell clean, and it seems that the bathrooms have issues all the time. My family and myself decided that not excellent rooms were not going to ruin our vacations, since in reality you just need the room to change and sleep. So we enjoy the rest of the facilities and the wonderful cool weather from 11-24 till the 28.

We were at the Grand Oasis for 6 days Nov 17-22. Overall the hotel and room were pretty nice. Room was confortable and bathroom was spacious. Everything was clean and the grounds well kept. I saw guys cleaning the pool every morning. It's worth paying for the oceanfront room, the view was spectacular! Food was decent but not fantastic. If you are picky about your food and expect top notch you are at the wrong hotel. But for the price I thought the selection of resturants and buffets was great. We ate a different place for lunch and dinner and was really only disappointed by the international buffet. Drinks are a little weak but if you ask nicely and tip the bartenders have no problems making your drinks stronger. The house wines are horrible but the resturants do have a small wine list you can choose from for an extra cost. Was a good crowd from all over and of all ages. Not too many old people or too many rowdy college kids. One tip which I read in a review but didn't really take head was to bring you own thermos or mug/cup. At most of the bars they are only using small cups so bring your own and you wont have to make as many trips back to the bar. All in all a great deal for the money but don't expect 4 star rooms, service or food. The Grand Oasis is definately overrated as a 4 star but is an adequate 3 star.

We stayed for 4 nights, 5 days. Loved the beach, but it is kind of rocky. The pool is beautiful, and I liked the food (although my husband did not like the desserts because they were not sweet.) I have to recommend an upgrade. It is worth EVERY penny. The first room we were in had REALLY bad lighting (no lamps and poor fluorescent overhead lights) and the room was kind of small. When we switched to a suite (our toilet leaked in the other room) it was AMAZING!!! Best thing we did. The suite has a huge tub/bathroom, has a king size bed, and two closets. It was beautiful and so nice. If you are huge into partying, it probably would not matter, but we were celebrating our five year anniversary and do not drink. We did all-inclusive, and although the room service was free, the menu is small. The bathrooms everywhere kind of stink (I have a really sensitive sense of smell as my husband did not notice.) The first floor in the building nearest the ocean smell mildewed. This is in the phase 1 building. All of our things were kind of damp in that room too. So I would try for a room in one of the newer phases, and anything besides the bottom floor. You do not need to bring towels. And we tipped probably 90% of the time. We hit up the buffet restaurant most of our meals. Because of the up-grade, I would go back. Always felt very safe at the hotel. They have a lot of security on staff.
